Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business, or related field; 6+ years of management experience; 4+ years in B2B marketing, preferably SaaS; proven track record in lead generation campaigns; expertise in email marketing automation and PPC management; strong project management and communication skills.

As the Marketing Manager, you will have direct responsibility over the strategic marketing plan for SUMO Scheduler. The position will require you to have a comprehensive understanding of SaaS product marketing, channel partner referral programs and lead generation.
The Marketing Manager will be responsible for building a sustainable lead pipeline. This will require them to develop and manage a robust lead generation centric marketing plan that targets business to business and channel referral generation. Ultimately, you will help SUMO to build and maintain a strong and sustainable lead pipeline through a wide range of online and offline marketing channels. research and analyzing data, identifying patterns and trends that directly inform SUMO’s marketing strategy.
Because the Marketing Manager is in charge of a staff of marketing professionals, you will need to be strong leaders who can provide clear instructions for their team and create a cohesive brand out of various advertising projects..
This is a remote position reporting to the US based EVP of Sales and Marketing. Therefore, candidates must be fluent in English and have the flexibility to meet during normal US work hours and alternative hours as needed.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in marketing, communications, business, advertising or a related field
- 6+ years with direct management experience overseeing direct reports.
- 4+ years’ experience in B2B marketing (preferably SaaS and/or enterprise software)
- Proven track record for developing and executing lead generation centric marketing campaigns
- Email marketing automation expertise sending trigger-based campaigns and sequence emails preferred.
- Launching and optimizing PPC campaigns across a number of search platforms
- Intermediate experience with HTML, URL construction, Tracking parameters
- Proven success in managing advertising initiatives that drive interest and convert cold targets into prospects.
- Ability to work in multiple cross-functional groups as well as independently and autonomously
- Advanced presentation and written communication skills
- Facilitate content creation initiatives by collaborating with outsourced copywriters and graphic designers
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Proven experience in managing consulting teams and internal stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience in identifying lead generation trends and optimizing advertising spend based on market data.
- Excellent cross-cultural communication skills as well as excellent writing and copy-editing.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Campaign Planning
- Review SUMO’s marketing plan to determine the effectiveness of current campaigns and strategies. Make recommendations for improvement, propose a budget and milestone based execution plan.
- Develop and implement vertical/channel based marketing plans, including promotional calendars and programs, new product introductions and other marketing projects.
- Analyze sales pipeline performance in order to identify underperforming lead campaigns and strategies. Make recommendations for improvement, provide budget recommendations and develop an action plan for immediate execution.
- Collaborate with the EVP of Sales and Marketing to research competitors and develop marketing strategies and collateral to enable sales.
- Develop vertical based marketing strategies and collateral
- Collaborate with senior management to make high level decisions regarding the marketing budget.
- Work with the EVP of Sales to develop successful strategies and campaigns that attract new customers and retain existing clients.
- Develop marketing strategies for existing and new products/services that promote direct growth and align with company standards.
- Participate in the development of branding and corporate identity initiatives
- Monitor costs and budgets
- Offer expert advice to develop innovative advertising, public relations, social media and events
- Negotiate with media partners to guarantee advantageous contracts
- Work with new business development team and sales teams on product initiatives
- Manage agency providers, consultants, freelancers and other suppliers, including contract negotiation and management
- Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Supervise a marketing team, including hiring, training, workloads, schedules and deadlines
- Oversee the operation of a company’s website or email marketing program and provide analytics review
Quarterly Plan Execution -- You are a hands-on marketing director, capable in designing and executing quarterly marketing campaigns, with goals that center around MQL lead generation.
You will manage up to 5 campaigns concurrently with the assistance of the Marketing Specialist and SDR resources. In addition, you may have up to 3-4 contractors to assist in specialty tasks, including Copywriter, Graphic Designer, SEO Expert, Webinar Team, and more. Create a marketing calendar and timeline gantt charts for larger campaigns and review daily with senior leadership.
You will manage the Marketing Specialist and contractor resources to execute the following:
- Mitigate delivery risks by proactively planning for unknowns and effectively managing resources and capacity
- Monitor campaign performance and provide weekly updates to the VP of Sales.
- Monitor campaign budgets and provide senior management with insights into potential shortfalls.

- Content Creation (Press Releases, Blog Articles, case studies etc)
- Sponsored Content Advertising - Co sponsored product reviews, thought leadership articles etc. that drive qualified leads.
- Salesforce channel partner outreach and referral partnership development
- Contractor Trade Partner outreach and referral partnership development
- OUTBOUND
- Content Creation (Press Releases, Blog Articles, case studies etc)
- Sponsored Content Advertising - Co sponsored product reviews, thought leadership articles etc. that drive qualified leads.
- B2B Email Marketing - Targeted campaigns focused on key verticals, roles and personas that result in qualified leads.
>INBOUND
- Online Paid Advertisements (LinkedIn, Google Adwords, SEO) - End-to-end campaign management (forecasting, executing, monitoring, evaluating and optimizing campaign performance) to generate maximum leads.
- Ad copy - “Pay-per-click” ad campaigns that engage target personas and progress them through the sales funnel.
- Webinars - Work with the VP of sales to plan and execute co-sponsored webinars for target customer personas.
- Social Media Advertising -Generate, edit, publish and optimize social media ads that build meaningful connections and encourage audience members to take action. Continuously improve by capturing and analyzing the appropriate social data/metrics, insights and best practices then providing detailed reports with strategic recommendations for next steps.
- Salesforce AMP Program - Manage SUMO’s Salesforce AMP marketing campaign and ensure all forecasted programs are executed and that all milestones are met.
