SHORT DESCRIPTION

Offsite is seeking a Demand Generation Specialist to drive MQLs through innovative marketing strategies, work closely with the CEO, and help build a category-defining marketplace focused on team retreats and offsite planning.

About The Role:

Offsite ([offsite.com]) is Airbnb for team retreats, offering a marketplace to easily book vendors for team retreats, offsites, and conferences.

We also offer end to end, “done for you” offsite planning services.

Used by hundreds of VC backed startups, Fortune 1000s and other high-growth “mid market” companies, Offsite is already a marketplace that has facilitated tens of millions of dollars in spend on offsites, with thousands of users, and the potential to become a category-defining brand.

Offsite is looking for a Demand Generation Specialist who will:

  • run dozens of quick/cheap ($1000 or less, 1 week or less) marketing experiments per quarter, in marketing channels like SEO, Content Marketing, Organic Social, etc
  • in order to drive 1000s of Marketing Qualified Leads (MQLs) this year,
  • while learning which marketing channels are scalable long-term to drive tens of thousands of new users and MQLs per year to the Offsite marketplace,
  • supporting other teams in the process with occasional marketing materials like case studies, improvements to our marketing website, and copy for other campaigns
  • and ultimately helping us build Offsite into a category-defining company and brand.

We’re VC-backed (raised $3.1M seed from Automattic, Forum Ventures, and 60+ angel investors including the CEOs or co-founders of Remote, 15Five, Gainsight, Vendr, ChartMogul, and Convene), break-even (ie not burning money), and looking to grow quickly over the next year in order to raise our Series A.

We’re also a lean-and-mean team (but actually, everyone is really nice!). This means…

As our new Demand Generation Specialist, you will be a full-time marketing team of one, working closely with our Founder/CEO as well as various freelancers and an agency or two.

Your main objective will be generating as many Marketing Qualified Leads (MQLs) as possible, and you will be responsible to “own” that key result, while finding scalable marketing channels to drive tens of thousands of users for the Offsite marketplace over the next few years.

What We’re Looking For:

I imagine the perfect person being someone who was the first, second, or third marketing hire at a B2B marketplace and already has a playbook for going from 1,000 to 10,000 to 100,000 users.

And/or if you haven’t grown a marketplace like Airbnb, Thumbtack, Houzz, etc…you have a strong background selling products and services to “People Leaders” like Chiefs of Staff, Executive Assistants, Heads of People, etc. This probably means you have worked in HR Tech, or sold some other software to these “People Leaders”.

If that’s not you, I’ll remain open-minded to other backgrounds, but I’ll need to be (thoroughly) convinced you can help us hit our new user targets and lead us to the promised land of category-definition.

You’ll be an individual contributor for 12+ months, working side-by-side with Offsite’s founder/CEO Jared Kleinert.

We are not hiring for someone who has recruiting, team-building, and managerial experience necessarily, although you may have the ability to grow into a role like “Head of Marketing” in 1-2 years (or you can easily remain an individual contributor).

Given the nature of this role, we’re looking for a “full-stack” marketer who specializes in a couple channels you know will drive the new user growth we are looking for (like content marketing, SEO, organic social, and any other high-conviction marketing channels you have experience in), while you’ll also know enough in other domains to contribute across the company with product marketing, our end-to-end service sales, etc.

You should be able to (and excited by) the idea of driving MQLs with minimal staff to support you, a small budget, the accelerated timeline of a startup trying to raise their Series A in a year, and the responsibility to mostly figure it out on your own.

That being said, help us get to a Series A and we can bake in all the budget you want for a killer team, more spend, etc as we build a category-defining brand and company.

Why Offsite?

You’ll be making marketing decisions and high-level collaboration with product, sales, marketplace, client success, etc. You can literally help us build a category-defining brand (and I’ll give you all the credit marketing-wise!). Not only that, but you could very well help us scale a company that makes you a lot of money with your equity, and helps you start your own company next or repeat your playbook with another team to become the go-to category-creator for marketplaces and/or HR Tech solutions.
  • Entrepreneurship. While we have some ideas of what works, we’re looking to improve our marketing and new user growth dramatically. What got us here, wont get us “there” (but we’re hoping you can!). If you thrive in entrepreneurial environments, we’ll get along. If you need to be handed a playbook, this is not going to be a good fit.
  • 2 offsites annually with the entire company. Get your passport ready, because we’re traveling internationally in February!
  • Work from anywhere.
  • Build an exceptional network. You’ll be marketing to and networking with CEOs, Chiefs of Staffs, EAs, and People Leaders from the world's fastest-growing and most inspiring companies...

Ideal Background

  • Experience in selling tech-enabled services with average contract values of $10k-$100k, and/or experience driving tens of thousands of users to create free accounts in order to search a marketplace.
  • Entrepreneurial thinking and background preferred and a plus
  • Experience with managing Hubspot CRM and other software platforms, or demonstrated ability to learn new tech quickly
  • Ideally, you think more like a “scientist” about getting MQLs and less like an “artist” trying to create the perfect mood board for our brand or arc for our brand’s story.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (huge plus if you have grown an email newsletter before, post regularly on LinkedIn or X and have interest in building your own brand alongside the company’s brand)

Comp and Benefits:

The starting salary for this role is $80,000 to $100,000 USD.

Additionally, you will receive stock options in Offsite as well as access to company-sponsored healthcare and 401k plan (in addition to other benefits such as a monthly Remote Work stipend, annual Mental Health and Wellness stipend, and unlimited PTO.

These benefits will be available after a 3 month trial run.
