The City of Chandler is seeking a temporary, part-time Digital Media Specialist to help with digital content production and social media engagement, offering valuable experience in public communications and media relations.

Job Announcement

The City of Chandler Communications and Public Affairs Department is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as a Digital Media Specialist. This position is a temporary, part-time, non-benefited and serves at the discretion of the department director. This position is scheduled to work less than 20 hours per week. Who we are
The City of Chandler Communications and Public Affairs Department develops and maintains community and media relations as well as communication programs to present municipal information to the public. This includes publications, press releases, websites, social media, videos and government cable television programming. The department also coordinates citizens' requests for service, public meetings on topical issues, and other citywide public affairs projects. In addition, it provides support to the Mayor, City Council, and City Departments.

Who we are looking for
The primary function of this position is to provide trainee-level assistance to Communications and Public Affairs (CAPA) in the production of digital content. The work is reserved for upper-division students and/or recent graduates who have studied communications, marketing, journalism and/or public relations.

This internship provides a great opportunity to gain practical work experience in public affairs, communications, social media, graphic design, multimedia and community outreach. Interns will provide various support functions that will help increase the City's online presence and resident engagement through the City's social media channels.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 6 months experience with digital media production, digital media photography or social media content development
  • Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
