Here's a summary of responsibilities:
The USOPC Athlete Development & Engagement team seeks a visionary thought leader who keeps an athlete-first mindset at the forefront of all decisions. The Director, Alumni Relations is responsible for providing strategic leadership and managing all Team USA Alumni Relations engagement, processes, and initiatives, including United States Olympians & Paralympians Association (USOPA) programming. The Director oversees and directs Team USA Alumni relations and engagement, including planning, executing, and evaluating alumni events; identifying, cultivating, and managing alumni volunteers; and fostering strong relationships with alumni and other internal and external stakeholders. To achieve success, the Director will collaborate internally with key USOPC partners and other affiliated organizations to develop and oversee strategies to increase alumni participation and engagement and to create a more integrated, inclusive, and vibrant alumni experience for Team USA athletes past, present, and future.
Here's how you'll have an impact:
- Develop and oversee a comprehensive Team USA alumni engagement strategic plan. The plan will provide alumni with USOPC resources and experiences to help them stay connected to the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Movement. Develop and direct strategies for alumni communication, outreach, and events.
- Collaborate with other USOPC departments, such as Communications, Stakeholder Experiences, Events & Logistics, Marketing, USOPF, and Team USA Athletes' Commission, to ensure effective partnership and aligned goals and objectives. Work closely with external stakeholder organizations, such as the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum, LA28, NGBs, WOA, and the IOC, to ensure a shared language and mission for alumni.
- Direct and implement a strategic roadmap to foster a strong and influential alumni network, which will be the cornerstone of future alumni engagement initiatives. Lead the Alumni Relations team in developing and managing relationships with alumni and other stakeholders.
- In conjunction with the USOPC, USOPA Council, and USOPA members, lead the strategic development, management, and evaluation of national service-based programs and special projects to engage alumni in the Olympic and Paralympic Movement meaningfully, recognize alumni as lifelong ambassadors of Olympism and Paralympism, and support the overall mission of the USOPC.
- Liaise with Events & Logistics to plan and execute alumni engagement events, including reunions, regional events, and other engagement opportunities. Manage event budgets and staffing plans, including volunteers.
- Develop and manage a comprehensive alumni database and communication plan to keep alumni informed and engaged. Partner with Athlete Outreach & Engagement team to align communications strategies, channels, and messages for athletes and alumni.
- Oversee collaboration with internal departments (i.e., Athlete Development & Engagement, Communications, Marketing, USOPF, etc.) to develop alumni-focused content and communication materials for various channels such as social media, newsletters, and websites.
- Lead negotiations for Alumni Engagement program-related contracts with consultants, vendors, and third-party providers to create mutually beneficial relationships that maintain the integrity of department strategies and initiatives—partner with USOPC Legal and Finance teams throughout the contract process.
- Strategize and determine key performance metrics to assess the effectiveness of alumni engagement strategies and programs. Oversee the monitoring and analysis of key metrics to identify areas of opportunity, potential innovations, and critical gaps and recommend solutions.
- In partnership with the finance liaison, oversee the budget for Alumni Engagement programs and initiatives. Ensure associated projects are within budget and accurate financial reporting is completed.
- Provide direction and leadership to the Alumni Relations team, including hiring, mentoring, coaching, and motivating to maximize collective performance.
- Contribute to an atmosphere for outstanding teamwork through clear expectations, frequent communication, and providing fair and consistent feedback. Manage the performance of team members effectively.
- Represent the organization at Team USA alumni events, conferences, and other relevant programs.
- Provide counsel, subject-matter expertise, and relevant information to USOPC departments and external stakeholders concerning Team USA Alumni initiatives.
- Serve as a key member of the Athlete Development & Engagement leadership team. Contribute to overall strategy, including short- and long-term goals to enhance the athlete and alumni experience.

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
- 10+ years of experience in alumni engagement, sports administration, communications, event management, leadership, and/or strategic management roles
- Experience directing a team
- Experience and comfort working with people across reporting structures
- Knowledge of alumni engagement best practices and trends
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement successful alumni engagement strategies, programs, and events
- Ability to serve as an ambassador for the department
- Organizational tact and diplomacy
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and departments, both internally and externally
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
- Strong project management and organizational skills

Here's some more information you need to know:
- Hiring Pay Range: $102,086 - $110,000 per year.
- This full-time, exempt position is intended to work 40 hours per week.
- Bonus: This position will be eligible for the Annual Incentive Award Program, which has a 20% target. The USOPC may change or eliminate this program at any time at its sole discretion.
