LOCATION
Hybrid work position within the Northern California Coastal Region including areas such as Sonoma, Napa, Marin, Solano, and more.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree highly desirable. Minimum 7 years of sales/fundraising experience and 5 years of management experience are required. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, along with a good driving record.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead a fundraising team to grow the region's donor base, manage high-level donor portfolios, develop revenue growth strategies, cultivate major donor relationships, collaborate with national teams, oversee fundraising campaigns, and ensure accurate reporting.

The American Red Cross is seeking a Director of Development (Corporate Giving) to strengthen donor relations and fundraising strategies across Northern California, aiming to meet financial targets exceeding $27 million.

1. Manage a portfolio of high-level donors and prospects within the assigned segment to achieve the annual revenue target, including both renewable gifts and new incremental revenue.
5. Oversee the implementation of organizational campaigns in the region and partner with the Regional Chief Development Officer to oversee the activity of the assigned campaign.
7. Provide strong leadership, develop, and set individual and team performance goals and manage/drive change. Hire, manage, train, and evaluate staff and volunteers to ensure fundraising results and that all team members meet or exceed national/regional fundraising metrics.
8. Lead and execute disaster relief fundraising efforts as appropriate.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:
Experience: Minimum 7 years of sales/fundraising experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required. Experience with increasing philanthropic revenue from diverse constituencies, developing and implementing broad-based fundraising programs, and knowledge of “best practices” in development. A current valid driver's license and a good driving record is required.
Management Experience: 5 years of management experience.
Skills & Abilities: Ability to relate well and work effectively with multiple constituencies and audiences. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written skills. Knowledge of office systems: MS Office preferred and fundraising database systems (e.g. Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce.com). Ability to work on a team within a collaborative environment and ensure the highest customer service orientation.
Travel: Requires frequent travel within the region. The amount will vary depending upon size and geography of region. Occasional travel within the Pacific Division may be required.
- Combination of candidate’s education and general experience satisfies requirements so long as the total years equate to description’s minimum education and general experience years combined (Management experience cannot be substituted).
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel and talk or hear.
- Frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
- Required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Frequently lift and/or move 15 to 30 pounds.
- May require ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations.
- The work environment will consist of moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phones, and printers, light traffic).
- Ability to work in a small cubicle and the ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time.
- Overall mobility is essential.
- It may also include driving a vehicle and working under challenging conditions.
- Expertise with the Northern California funding community, highly desirable.
