We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Director of Marketing to join our team, who will be responsible for the Family of Silver Oak’s brand portfolio. In this pivotal role, based in Napa Valley, the Director of Marketing will report directly to the Chief Marketing Officer and collaborate with the Head of Digital and Director of Communications to craft and execute innovative marketing strategies, tactics, and innovative ideas essential for achieving our business goals. The ideal candidate will have very strong and demonstrated brand-building and brand activation experience, will have a strong knowledge of the consumer activation and media ecosystem, and will demonstrate a high level of both strategic and tactical thinking while excelling in an adaptable and unstructured environment. This is a challenging and multi-faceted role, requiring leadership of cross-functional teams, agencies, and sales partners. The Director of Marketing will leverage analytics and customer insights to drive marketing strategies and manage the team responsible for implementation. We seek an individual with exceptional communication and analytical skills, as well as a creative, growth mindset for all aspects the marketing mix.
This role will work closely with the Chief Marketing Officer on the development and execution of brand strategy, messaging and portfolio strategy. This position will have one direct report, Marketing Coordinator, who they will coach and mentor for continuous growth and a high level of marketing expertise.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrates leadership through sound business decisions, high ethical standards, accountability, values, and behavior. Builds trust within their teams and other departments.
- Develops and provides mentoring to direct reports by providing timely feedback and finding opportunities for growth and development.
- Lead the development of marketing strategy, annual plans, and budget.
- Collaborate with Digital and PR peers to develop integrated marketing programs to be executed across channels and the marketing mix.
- Responsible and accountable for the annual marketing & advertising budget, ensuring the proper resource allocation required to deliver business and marketing objectives.
- Partners closely with VP of Sales and Sales Leadership Team to provide category leadership insights, strategic direction, and vision for Silver Oak brand portfolio in the on & off-premise, both long-term (3-5 years) and short-term (annual plan).
- Partners with Tasting Room leadership to develop compelling and unique consumer experiences to drive increased visitation and revenue growth.
- Lead the development and implementation of initiatives to drive an increase in visitation to the wineries.
- Establish and track key performance indicators (KPI’s) to measure the success of consumer programming, engagement, brand heat, awareness and consideration, net promoter score (NPS).
- Collaborate with the Head of Digital Growth Marketing and internal and external web developers/agencies to implement campaigns and ensure consistency of all consumer touchpoints.
- Clearly communicate and monitor brand guidelines and brand world.
- Possess an expert-level understanding of our customer lifecycle and improve long-term brand loyalty as well as the acquisition of new customers.
- Conduct ongoing business and competitive analysis to identify trends, address key challenges, and recommend actionable strategies to the CMO for driving growth and capitalizing on opportunities.
- Collaborate closely with Wholesale, E-Commerce and Retail Tasting Rooms to create demand generation programming.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing or related field plus 10 years of experience with brand marketing, or related role. MBA a plus, but not required.
- Experience working in the alcoholic beverage industry a plus, but not required.
- Experience working with luxury brands.
- Critical thinker with strong conceptual skills.
- Strong project management skills and a passion for planning to stay ahead of the curve.
- Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
- Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and knowledge of HTML, Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
- Ability to inspire and motivate others to deliver against priorities.
- Motivated, self-starter with a positive and professional demeanor.
- Experience working directly with agencies and negotiating contracts and rates.
- Ability to set goals and execute tight deadlines with grace.
- An eye on best practices and an ear on industry breakthroughs.
- Knowledge of website development and marketing databases.
- Knowledge of print production and direct mail process.
- Team-oriented with developed leadership and project management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
