Director of Marketing & Communications responsible for guiding branding strategies, enhancing awareness, and managing communications for Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity.

Director of Marketing & Communications

Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity’s Director of Marketing and Communications is responsible for guiding and executing a strategy for all branding strategies, including internal and external marketing, branding, and public relations to promote and enhance Habitat’s message and branding. This includes developing creative tactics to reach our target audience, media outreach, and guiding our advertisement campaign. The Director ensures that the overall marketing strategy of Greater Cleveland Habitat, as a whole and as individual departments, are clear and concise; that these efforts accurately reflect the organization’s core message and tone and are delivered in a polished and timely manner. The Director works across all departments assisting each with their marketing efforts, ensuring that all efforts are integrated. They grow and maintain strong partnerships in the community that increase Habitat’s brand awareness and impact and manage public engagement-driven projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Designs, implements, and evaluates marketing strategies and activities, including, but not limited to brand management; media relations; newsletters; annual report; social media; websites; email; branded collateral; announcements and invitations.
  • Develops Marketing and Communications goals.
  • Leads marketing and public relations efforts to increase awareness of key focus areas in program, ease of philanthropy, and capacity building.
  • Develops and implements brand strategy to reflect and clearly articulate Greater Cleveland Habitat’s mission and priorities.
  • Identifies opportunities for online traffic growth.
  • Sets organizational objectives.
  • Supervises and provides leadership and guidance to the Marketing and Communications Coordinator.
  • Oversees content production to ensure messaging consistency.
  • Manages marketing budget to ensure maximum cost-efficiency.
  • Manages all aspects of Habitat’s social media presence (website, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube).
  • Leads content creation for Habitat’s social media, including written blog content, tweets, posts, and videos.
  • Drives strategy to increase daily engagement on Habitat social media accounts.
  • Monitors, reports, and presents on online engagement analytics (web, email, social media).
  • Develops and manages special projects assigned.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature as may be required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or Management.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of leadership-level experience in a communications role (that includes a combination of marketing, advertising, brand management, and public relations functions), with direct responsibility leading the development and implementation of overall marketing strategy.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of strong management and/or team leadership experience.
  • Must possess experience across disciplines, including some combination of strategic communications, visual design, and data, as well as experience in philanthropy.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver against deadlines while maintaining the flexibility necessary to adapt, respond, and meet the needs of the organization.
  • Ability to be self-directed, as well as succeed and thrive in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and a willingness to “get in the trenches” to achieve goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop positive, productive professional relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively, while also implementing tactically .
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skill.
  • Customer service commitment, interpersonal skills in working with colleagues and external constituents.
  • Portfolio of successful marketing/branding projects.
  • Ability to maintain effective cross-sector communication.
  • Familiarity with current nonprofit marketing and fundraising practices.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
  • Self-starting and an effective collaborator who works well with small teams and shared decision-making, embraces change, and is passionate about Habitat.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and judgment.
  • Exemplary and meticulous writer who can capture and shape the voice of the organization through various communications channels.
  • Retail marketing experience a plus.
  • Good aptitude for Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Adobe Creative Suite, video editing and graphic design. Must be comfortable learning software, including databases.
