Job Description
Reporting to the CRO, the Marketing Director will fuel the growth strategy by playing a critical role in generating demand for Chronicle Heritage and International Heritage, building the sales pipeline with qualified business opportunities. The team’s goal is to generate pipeline and revenue by creating interest and engaging prospects throughout the buyer’s journey—across all channels. This role needs to strike a balance of being attentive to detail, creative, and analytical, and requires a deep understanding of the marketing automation buying cycle, knowledge of the marketing automation marketplace and marketing trends, and an ability to conceptualize, create, implement and optimize integrated, creative, online/offline marketing programs to generate pipeline and revenue.
The Director of Marketing will be the subject matter expert in defining how, where, when, and to whom content is delivered within Chronicle’s digital presence. This position includes analyzing, building, calendaring, and governing content while assuring it aligns with Chronicle’s messaging and digital strategies. This position provides SEO and content marketing management while supporting the sales team to ensure their work directly correlates with Chronicle’s overall marketing plan and growth strategy.
The ideal candidate is experienced with developing and executing successful awareness and demand generation programs for a professional services company. They have a proven track record of developing compelling marketing content that drives engagement with prospects while critically viewing existing user experiences and devising ways to improve them. They enjoy solving problems and are passionate to learn and share points of view and new developments in the field. They can write a succinct strategy that inspires great creative work and they have experience introducing innovative communication strategies to an organization. They have experience managing a team, including an inside sales team (BDRs/SDRs). They are creative, positive, and self-motivated.
Additionally, this role requires strategic marketing leadership, cross-team and -organization collaboration, excellent communication, and a passion for developing, iterating on, and scaling integrated initiatives across marketing and sales.

Responsibilities
  • Work with the CRO to bridge strategic plans into demand generation plans, and then work to develop, implement, refine, and analyze targeted B2B marketing programs to generate pipeline.
  • Develop the annual marketing strategies, goals, and tactics that support the annual revenue plan; lead the Marketing team (internal and external resources) to achieve their portion of the annual revenue plan.
  • Oversee and manage a high-powered demand generation team of BDRs and SDRs to execute campaign and demand generation programs at high-quality levels that provide strong ROI. Ensure the team is continuously learning and growing their skills, career potential, and understanding of the market.
  • Drive and execute integrated digital marketing strategies within the cultural resource management and archaeological markets to achieve lead, acquisition, retention, and revenue goals. Track and analyze marketing campaign metrics, providing comprehensive feedback to management and recommending updates and/or revisions accordingly.
  • Create and deploy digital marketing strategies and tactics across platforms (including Google, Bing, LinkedIn, Facebook, HubSpot, Google Analytics, Google AdWords, etc.), drive best practices, source and interpret first- and third-party intent data, analyze customer history and behavior to develop, manage and execute best-in-class campaigns and customer journeys that drive acquisition, retention, and lifetime value.
  • Source and execute global tradeshows and events
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders across the organization (including Marketing, Sales, Product, and external agencies) to develop, monitor, and optimize programs throughout the customer journey and sales funnel.
  • Identify opportunities to develop new channels and/or expand existing channels for customer acquisition.
  • Build cross-functional relationships by providing insights and strategic recommendations that can have a profound impact on the organization. Build relationships with experts across the company and with industry influencers to gather knowledge and information required to produce content.
  • Develop Content Strategy; monitor content engagement data and the online preferences of our target audience and continually optimize content strategy and content development; perform competitive content analyses; plan for delivery of online content with real-time relevance.
  • Act as a key member of the sales and marketing revenue team
  • Continually assess demand generation effectiveness across channels and campaigns to provide a detailed analysis and insights to ensure needed adjustments are found early and implemented.
  • Research, author, edit, and proof email communications, product collateral, web content, advertisements, blog posts, articles, press releases, video scripts, infographics, case studies and more using SEO best practices.
  • Manage all search engine optimization (SEO) activities: conducting keyword research, optimizing webpages for relevant search terms, re-organizing/re-writing sections of the website, developing new content, updating meta data, etc.
  • Generate backlinks by researching online publications, conducting media outreach, and developing custom content.
  • Provide support with creating/managing programs in HubSpot
  • Develop marketing benchmark criteria and KPIs to measure the efficiency and effectiveness of all marketing initiatives.
  • Report performance on all KPIs as needed to the Executive Leadership Team advising on strategic adjustments to achieve growth goals.
  • Lead and manage digital marketing, social, public relations, media buy, field marketing, events, and internal creative services.
  • Regularly conduct market analysis to identify challenges and opportunities for company growth.
  • Design and manage the marketing department’s budget to plan.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Content Strategy, Communication, Advertising, or related/relevant work-related experience
  • 5+ years prior experience in Digital Content Creation and Management including creating/writing strategic and creative content
  • 1+ year of supervisory experience, preferably to an inside sales
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, as well as exceptional grammar and command of the English language
  • Submit cover letter with sample content or link to portfolio
  • Ability to analyze, present, and evaluate SEO, content, and social media performance
  • 5 years of experience in demand generation, campaign planning and B2B marketing
  • Create an editorial calendar, work with writers, photographers, and graphic designers (both internal and external to the company)
  • Experience with WordPress, Google Analytics, Google Ads, Google Search Console, SEO analysis tools (ex: SEMrush), and HubSpot (preferred)
Preferred Skills
  • Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) experience
  • Strong understanding and use of social media and how to reach a target audience via content marketing
  • Ability to work independently, as well as integrate into a collaborative team and brainstorming culture
  • Acute attention to detail
  • Prior or current experience working in the archaeology, environmental, or construction industry
Physical And Mental Requirements And Work Environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively through writing, public presentation/speaking, and individually.

  • Must be able to observe social and professional interactions and respond appropriately.
