QUALIFICATIONS
Sales experience in hospitality or a related field, valid driver's license, strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to influence and negotiate, and a positive attitude. Bachelor's Degree or certification in Hospitality or Marketing is preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and execute sales strategies, maximize revenues, oversee sales operations and team, manage group bookings, build professional relationships, and maintain community visibility. Other duties as assigned.

SHORT DESCRIPTION
The Director of Sales is responsible for driving sales strategies and maximizing profitability at Hilton Garden Inn Minneapolis University Area.
- Develop and execute strategic plans in support of achieving optimal occupancy and ADR growth.
- Maximize total revenues and control expenses to meet and exceed hotel profitability objectives.
- Oversee operations of the hotel sales department including, but not limited to, direct sales, follow-up, sales administration, hiring of staff, training, managing, and coaching.
- Supervise the sales team where applicable.
- Execute and support the operational aspects of business booked, including generating proposals, writing contracts and customer correspondence.
- Oversee the event management of group bookings and ensure seamless on-property experience for all contracted customers.
- Proactively develop action plans, conduct sales tours, and entertain clients.
- Build and maintain professional and active relationships with clients, third-party meeting planners, referral sites, and other key sources as lead generators.
- Maintain strong visibility in local community and industry organizations by Positively represent the hotel on site visits, trade shows, and sales calls.
- Attend any meetings and any other functions required by the hotel or management, even outside typical office hours.
- Maintain a good working relationship with other associates by promoting teamwork and fostering a harmonious working climate.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Must have a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Sales experience in hospitality or in a related field.
- Valid driver’s license in the applicable state.
- Possess highly developed verbal & written communication skills.
- Ability to influence others and negotiate.
- Have thorough experience with professional selling skills: opening, probing, supporting, closing.
- Ability to work independently and simultaneously manage multiple tasks.
- General database management knowledge.
- Ability to take initiative, to succeed under pressure, and meet deadlines.
- Basic market knowledge.
- Strong organization and presentation skills.
- Proficient in Windows operating systems, company approved spreadsheets, and word processing.
- Ability to convey information and ideas clearly.
- Desire to serve all guests.
- 18 years of age or older required to perform this job.
- Bachelor’s Degree or certification in Hospitality, Marketing, or related field.
- Brand knowledge.
- Professionally well connected in local market.
