Job Overview
The Director of Sales and Marketing is a critical leadership role focused on driving revenue growth, market positioning, and brand awareness for the hotel. This person is responsible for developing and implementing sales and marketing strategies to maximize hotel revenue and market share. This role involves overseeing the sales team, managing marketing campaigns, building relationships with clients, and analyzing market trends. The Director of Sales and Marketing works closely with the hotel management team to ensure the hotel's sales and marketing efforts align with business objectives and brand standards.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Strategy & Management
- Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies to drive revenue growth across all market segments (corporate, leisure, group, etc.).
- Set sales targets, monitor performance, and adjust strategies as needed to achieve revenue goals.
- Lead, train, and manage the sales team to ensure effective execution of sales plans.
Marketing Strategy & Execution
- Develop and execute marketing plans and campaigns, including digital marketing, advertising, promotions, and public relations.
- Oversee the hotel's online presence, including website content, social media, and online reviews.
- Coordinate with the brand's marketing team to ensure consistency in messaging and brand standards.
Revenue Management
- Collaborate with the revenue management team to develop pricing strategies and manage room inventory to optimize revenue.
- Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and historical data to adjust pricing and sales strategies.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide regular reports on sales and marketing performance.
Client Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, travel agents, corporate accounts, and meeting planners.
- Identify new business opportunities and develop strategies to attract and retain clients.
- Conduct client meetings, site visits, and presentations to showcase hotel offerings.
Event & Conference Sales
- Oversee the sales of hotel event and conference facilities, including negotiating contracts and coordinating logistics.
- Work with clients to plan and execute successful events, ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate with the operations team to ensure seamless event execution.
Market Research & Analysis
- Conduct market research to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive dynamics.
- Analyze data to understand customer preferences, market demand, and potential areas for growth.
- Use insights to refine sales and marketing strategies.
Brand Positioning & Promotion
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance the hotel's brand positioning in the market.
- Manage the production of promotional materials and oversee advertising campaigns.
- Represent the hotel at industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities.
Budget & Financial Management
- Prepare and manage the sales and marketing budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources.
- Monitor expenses and ROI on marketing activities to optimize budget utilization.
- Report on financial performance and provide insights for strategic decision-making.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead and mentor the sales and marketing team, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
- Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and support professional development.
- Create an environment that encourages innovation and continuous improvement.
Communication & Collaboration
- Maintain open communication with the hotel management team to align sales and marketing efforts with overall business goals.
- Collaborate with other departments (e.g., operations, finance) to ensure coordinated efforts.
- Provide regular updates on sales and marketing activities to stakeholders.
Compliance & Standards
- Ensure compliance with brand standards, hotel policies, and regulatory requirements in all sales and marketing activities.
- Maintain accurate records of contracts, client interactions, and marketing activities.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or related field; MBA or advanced certification in sales or marketing preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in sales and marketing, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role in the hospitality industry.
