ILIA is seeking a Director of Product Development to lead innovative and sustainable beauty product initiatives, ensuring high quality and effective collaboration across multiple teams.

In line with that vision, ILIA is looking for a Director, Product Development to join the product development team in bringing high quality, innovative, clean and sustainable beauty products to life. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills, the ability to pivot quickly to multitask, attention to detail is key, and provide support as needed.
This role is hybrid and open to candidates based in Orange County, CA or New York, NY.
Key Responsibilities
Work with the SVP of Product Development and team to bring the founder’s vision of formula and packaging to life
Identify and drive innovation across categories
Oversee development for cross category projects from ideation and throughout the product lifecycle including competitive landscape analysis, product brief creation, trackers, shade analysis/proposals where applicable, etc.
Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of standards, and lab submissions. Reviewing pre-production batches, pre-shipment batches, drawdowns and setting range-boards
Co-manage PD coordinator day-to-day with mentorship and guidance
Maintain and leverage key relationships with contract manufacturers, conducting onsite development as needed
Work with PM to manage project timelines and track progress for product development, ensuring on time launches
Work with copy, product marketing, regulatory and R&I to manage the clinical/consumer claims process and all testing related to product launches
Build cross-functional relationships with Operations, Education, Sales and Marketing to deliver all product information and needs on time
Oversee the lab sample/comp and finished goods sample needs by project for all retailer meetings, photography, PR, etc.
Work with marketing to prepare all pricing and competitive analysis for new product launches
Participate and assist in brainstorming new product concepts
Attend industry trade shows/vendor presentations as needed
Ability to travel domestically and abroad for product development purposes
Lead weekly vendor/cross-functional meetings for current/future developments and recap meeting notes
10+ years of cosmetics product development experience requiredSkincare or cosmetics chemistry background a plus
Passionate about the beauty industry
Ability to work in a fast moving, fast changing environment
Excellent work ethic, with a strong efficiency orientation: Must be organized, detail oriented, resourceful, and adept at prioritizing and juggling multiple projects at once to meet tight deadlines
Strong interpersonal skills, ability to develop relationships and communicate (written and oral) with all levels of management, cross-functional teams and vendors

Up to 20% travel
