The Director of Prospect Management is responsible for leading the prospect management program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, enhancing fundraising strategies through data analysis and strategic relationship development.

The Director, Prospect Management is responsible for leading the university prospect management office and program. This individual serves on the department leadership team, manages a team of prospect management staff, and serves as the program expert for prospect management.
The Director reports to the Executive Director of the prospect development department and applies advanced analytical and critical thinking skills to strategic business opportunities associated with the university’s fundraising enterprise. The department’s twin goals are to provide timely, high-quality insights and knowledge to support a variety of fundraising strategies and to facilitate the movement of prospects through the pipeline, and its core competencies are working with information, building relationships, and delivering effective solutions.
To advance the priorities of the university-wide development community – known as OneCarolina – the Director oversees strategic services to fundraisers, which may include one or more key elements of prospect management: officer goal-setting and productivity; portfolio reviews; portfolio strategy, optimization, and consultation; tool consulting; resourcing officers; and managing prospect pipeline, leads, and pools.
Specific duties may include:
1.) Oversee the office’s participation in the annual officer goal-setting process and productivity (i.e. helping officers focus on their portfolio work).
2.) Oversee the delivery of four critical client-facing portfolio management services: training, analysis, strategy (i.e. portfolio reviews), and client service.
3.) Collaboratively manage prospect pipeline, leads, and pools.
4.) Oversee the delivery of consulting for maximizing use / value of prospecting and portfolio tools.
5.) Deliver a comprehensive approach to resourcing officers
6.) Develop and maintain effective relationships with fundraisers and collaborators across OneCarolina.
7.) Leverage business intelligence and analytics capabilities to benefit the university development community.
8.) Partner with the Business Intelligence department to ensure that its insights are being applied in the field, while at the same time providing it with accurate, timely data from the field.
9.) Maintain and ensure the integrity of the data within the database.
10.) Develop and maintain knowledge of applicable information technology and how data are structured within the development database.
11.) Identify business needs and develop appropriate products and strategies to drive business outcomes.
