The Director, Sales Strategy and Customer Marketing at Pharmavite will lead marketing strategies to enhance sales, manage a customer marketing team, and drive brand objectives, while nurturing relationships with retailers and collaborating across departments.

The Director, Sales Strategy and Customer Marketing is responsible for leading the strategy and a team of customer marketers to deliver shopper marketing programs that drive sales, profit, and market share at customers, while also delivering against our brand objectives for consumers and shoppers. This role will be responsible for translating the needs of the retailer and connect the expectations of the brands to set priorities, goals and key performance indicators for the sales and customer marketing teams. Additionally, this role will lead the go-to-market strategy for innovation launches, channel strategy and key meetings to communicate on these key strategies and deliverables, including but not limited to national sales meetings, top-to-tops, and key conferences.
This role reports to the Divisional Vice President of Sales Strategy and manages a team.
Critical contributions this role is counted on to deliver include:
  • Strategic Leadership: Translate retailer needs and brand expectations into priorities, goals, and KPIs for the customer marketing department.
  • Sales Plan Development: Lead the creation and deployment of annual sales plans, including key selling strategies, insights, tactics, and shopper execution.
  • Sales Representation: Represent Sales in innovation, annual operating planning, brand strategy development, and joint business planning initiatives.
  • Shopper Marketing: Direct the development and execution of annual shopper marketing programs to drive net sales, profit, and market share.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Shopper Insights, Marketing, Innovation, PMO, eTail, and Field Sales to develop and activate omnichannel plans.
  • Team Development: Coach and develop a high-performing team, providing ongoing coaching, feedback, and development.
  • Role Evolution: Evolve the team's role and performance to meet changing expectations of shoppers, field sales teams, and customers.
  • Budget Management: Develop and deploy the account-specific marketing budget to meet customer performance objectives and maximize sales volume, profitability, and market share.
  • Event Planning: Lead the sales planning team to deliver strategy, content, and execution for National Sales Meetings, key conferences, and customer meetings.
  • 25-35% travel required
The ideal candidate is a strategic thought leader with a deep understanding of customers and market channels. They excel in translating retailer needs into clear goals and KPIs, and have experience with national and digital shopper marketing programs. This candidate is a strong relationship builder, adept at collaborating with cross-functional teams, and can manage multiple projects efficiently. They are skilled in planning, budgeting, and executing marketing plans, and can convert strategic goals into actionable plans. Effective communication, leadership, and data proficiency are key strengths, enabling them to develop high-performing teams and use market data to inform decisions and presentations.
You’ll be most successful in this role if you have:
  • Strategic Leadership and Market Insights: Ability to translate retailer needs into clear goals and KPIs, with an understanding of customers and market channels, and proficiency in using market data to inform presentations. Experience with national and digital marketing programs.
  • Execution: Skill in turning strategic goals into actionable plans with ability to present complex ideas clearly.
  • Team Leadership and Collaboration: Experience in developing and managing high-performing teams. Proven ability to work well with various teams (e.g., Sales, Marketing, Finance), handle multiple projects and requests efficiently, and plan and budget for various initiatives.
  • Joint Business Planning: Experience in developing long-term plans with field sales and capability to lead shopper agencies to align with priorities.
In order to take on these challenges, you’ll need to have:
  • A four-year college or university degree or its equivalent
  • A minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in Sales, Sales Strategy or Customer Marketing within the consumer packages good industry. Additional experience in Marketing and/or Shopper Insights is preferred.
  • A minimum of five (5) years leading and managing teams.

Annual Pay Range
$184,808.00 - $277,365.00
This represents the minimum and maximum base salary range for this role, plus annual incentive. Various elements are used to determine a candidate’s starting salary such as job experience, specific skills, and comparison to internal incumbents currently in the role.
