About the Role
As a District Sales Manager, you will be at the forefront of our sales strategy, managing territory plans and executing activities that achieve and surpass sales quotas. This is a hands-on role where you will cultivate relationships with key distributors, end-users, and trade influencers, ensuring Klein Tools products are always top of mind. Your goal is to increase market share, drive revenue, and position Klein Tools as the preferred choice for skilled trades professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive Sales Success: Develop and execute a territory plan that consistently achieves and exceeds sales goals. Take charge of new product launches and promotions, ensuring maximum impact.
- Build Lasting Relationships: Establish trust and collaboration with top decision-makers, senior managers, and business owners at distributor locations. Conduct regular check-ins and business reviews.
- Collaborate with Key Accounts: Engage in strategic planning with key national accounts, marketing group accounts, and distributor partners. Set clear objectives and track progress against them.
- Maintain Engaging Product Displays: Ensure in-store displays are fully stocked, visually appealing, and aligned with company brand standards. Submit before-and-after photos to the Regional Sales Manager.
- Promote Brand Awareness: Engage with vocational schools, trade education centers, and industry organizations like IBEW/NJATC to increase Klein Tools' visibility. Conduct class presentations, support award dinners, and provide hands-on product demonstrations.
- Expand Market Reach: Continuously prospect for new distribution channels, identify potential stocking locations, and open new accounts to grow the territory’s footprint.
- Hands-on End-User Engagement: Conduct site visits to end users and job sites within the territory, providing in-depth product knowledge and driving preference for Klein Tools.
- Stay Organized and Accountable: Keep CRM records up to date, submit timely reports, and maintain all company property (tools, displays, samples, etc.) with care and responsibility.
- Adapt to Business Needs: Respond to the dynamic nature of sales by taking on other related duties as required.
- Education: Associate’s degree required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Experience: At least 1 year of successful sales experience with a proven track record of exceeding goals and driving growth.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and experience using CRM software to manage customer data.
- Adaptability & Communication: Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to influence and inspire a diverse range of stakeholders. Must be agile and flexible, ready to adjust strategies as business needs evolve.
- Physical Capabilities: Ability to travel extensively, drive long distances, and perform product demonstrations. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally and navigate various physical activities such as stooping, kneeling, and climbing stairs.
- Other Requirements: Must hold a valid driver’s license and be bondable.
This position requires up to 50% travel, including visits to distributor locations, job sites, and trade schools throughout the Nebraska and Iowa territory.
