The Donor Engagement Specialist will cultivate relationships with donors, manage fundraising activities, and implement donor stewardship initiatives to support the mission of Guardian Angel.
Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Donor Engagement Specialist to join our team. As the Donor Engagement Specialist, you will support and work closely with the Senior Director of Development to ensure the successful execution of all projects, programs, and events. The Donor Engagement Specialist plays a vital role in cultivating and maintaining relationships with donors to support the mission of Guardian Angel. This position focuses on creating meaningful connections with individual and corporate donors through strategic communications, events, and stewardship initiatives. The ideal candidate is passionate about nonprofit work, has strong interpersonal skills, and excels at building relationships.
Core Functions
Fundraising –
- Managing, fostering relationships, and securing donations from a mid-level donor portfolio of donors under $1,000
- Supporting Development Director with the planning and day-of execution of fundraising events
- Soliciting small dollar sponsorships, in-kind donations (as needed), and working with vendors to support major fundraising and donor events
- Participating in the annual fund planning process and supporting updates throughout the year
- Coordinating all fundraising appeal mailings, including generating donor mailing lists, working with printers, and posting mail
- Input and maintain accurate donor records in the donor database (Salesforce), ensuring all monetary and in-kind donations, pledges, and supporter touchpoints are captured
- Ensure donor acknowledgement letters are generated and mailed on a weekly basis
Donor Stewardship & Cultivation -
- Overseeing, contributing ideas to, and implementing the organizations’ donor and volunteer stewardship/ recognition calendar
- Maintain regular communication with donors through emails, calls, handwritten notes, and impact reports
- Facilitating and tracking new donor welcome kits and touchpoints
- Organizing and attending donor engagement events, such as appreciation events, tours, open house, etc.
- Implementing and leading the GASA Young Professionals Board to foster a younger generation of donors/volunteers
- Partner and collaborate with the Volunteer Coordinator to strengthen donor and volunteer relationships through support and engagement efforts
- Collaborating with the Senior Director of Development to identify prospective donors and create tailored cultivation strategies
- Working with the Senior Director of Development to align donor engagement strategies with organizational goals
Communications -
- Collecting and crafting current client, volunteer, and staff success stories for dissemination
- Developing compelling donor-centric materials, including e-newsletters, impact stories, event e-blasts, and fundraising campaign updates
- Assisting Senior Director of Development with the creation of fundraising appeals and digital marketing campaigns
- Serving as a mission ambassador and liaison between donors/volunteers and the organization, addressing inquiries and providing updates as needed
Qualifications/Experience
Have a strong passion for the mission of Guardian Angel, including an unwavering commitment to providing resources and solutions for underserved populations in the St. Louis area
- Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Communications, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- 2+ years of experience in donor relations, fundraising, or customer relationship management, preferably in a nonprofit setting
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a strong ability to connect with diverse audiences
- Forward looking thinker, who actively seeks opportunities and proposes solutions
- Proficiency in donor management software (e.g., DonorPerfect, Salesforce, or similar CRM tools).
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Event planning and project management experience is a plus
- Demonstrated ability to achieve high performance goals, be adaptable to various competing demands, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Pay: $50,000.00 per year
