High School diploma or equivalent required, with 1+ years experience in an education or museum setting preferred. Strong interpersonal, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills required. Familiarity with GSuite, Zoom, and other technology platforms is essential.

The Education Coordinator will develop, manage, and teach educational programs at New Museum Los Gatos, catering to various age groups while fostering creative engagement and collaboration.
Title: Education Coordinator
Position: hourly part-time, up to 15 hrs per/week
Annual Salary: $18-$21 p/hour

Overview
New Museum Los Gatos is seeking a creative individual with museum (or similar) experience developing, managing, and teaching virtual and onsite educational programs for all ages.
The ideal candidate is a team player who is creative, a strong communicator, highly organized, multitasker, reliable, punctual, and has exceptional time management skills. Additional critical skills and experience include creative problem solving and the ability to thrive as a “department of one.” This is a creative, mentally stimulating, and rewarding job for a person who is passionate about education and keen on developing new ways to engage museum patrons off all stripes.
The successful candidate must have at least 1+ years’ experience in a formal or informal education environment and practical experience in children’s education and youth mentorship.
Schedule & Hours: (may occasionally change due to program demands. availability to support some evening programs will be required.)
Regular working schedule: Thu-Sat. occasionally working Sundays and evenings with program demands, position is primarily onsite.*
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Job Description
o Develop, Coordinate and Deliver curricula, educational programs, and events including:
- Administrative support and outreach for ArtNow, NUMU’s annual juried high school exhibition
- Respond to teacher and student inquiries
- Assist development of key communications
- Collaborate with the Education Curator on programming, timeline, teen council, etc.
- Support programming logistics
- Support the development written materials including labels and exhibition catalog
- Support and attend Teen Council Interns
- Coordinate Museum Explorer Program: K-5 and high school group tours and school visits
- Co-facilitate school tours and deliver lesson plans
- Coordinate school tours including teacher inquiries, booking, communications, invoicing, scheduling, etc.
- Support with development and implementation of exhibition-related art and history programs - receptions, talks, tours, interactive programs, community events - both virtual and onsite
- Support with the development of artist run workshops for all ages.
- Support the Scouts Program: Badge-making workshops for Girl/Boy/Cub Scouts
- Co-facilitate programs and co-develop curriculum
- Coordinate scheduling, bookings, communications, etc.
- Co-facilitate camps including the summer Footbridge Mural Program: 3-week summer camp ages 6-12, in partnership with Los Gatos Recreation Dept.
- Co-develop and update curriculum as needed

- Exhibition, curatorial, and engagement teams
- Grant writing
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Schedule and manage programs calendars and general administration.
- Prepare contracts with artist instructors and program partners.
- Work with marketing manager to develop communications materials and promote programs on website, social media platforms, e-newsletters, printed materials and online calendars.
- Facilitate programs including delivery, set-up and cleanup as required.
- Support the development of new programs and initiatives, in collaboration with the Education Curator as necessary.
- Prepare program status reports and maintain general reporting records. Tracking program engagement data and attendance
- Update outreach lists.
- Maintain fluency in all museum-related information and policies for public dissemination.
- Contribute as a team member and support other museum departments and colleagues including exhibitions, operations and events as needed.
- May be assigned to work the admissions desk or act as 2nd VSR, when needed.
- Support as needed: content for the main museum Blog, creating content as needed.
Skills & Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Background in Education and Museum practices and program development a plus!
- 1+ year experience working in an education, museum setting or equivalent, is a plus!
- Experience developing curriculum and lesson plans including the incorporation of Common Core standards is a plus.
- Teaching experience or working with youth is strongly preferred.
- Excellent demonstrable verbal and written skills A MUST.
- PROMPTNESS and ACCOUNTABILITY is paramount.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and demonstrated experience working independently (e.g. examples of independent projects; project coordination; presentations and reports; experience with departmental administration and logistical tasks).
- Have demonstrable proficiency in new technologies and technology platforms including
GSuite, Zoom, SquareSpace, Square, Submittables, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Flexible schedule including weekends and/or occasional nights is required.
- Ability to communicate audibly and clearly in informal classroom or gallery settings and quickly assess success of teaching techniques and able to keep the group focused and engaged.
- Experience with design and facilitation of programs for audiences of all ages is preferred.
- Ability to prioritize and work in a timely and efficient manner.
- Participates effectively in teams with special attention to communication, budget, deadlines, and priorities.
- Attention to detail; able to think a program through successfully, so that programs will run smoothly and as planned.
- Grant writing skills a plus.
- Must undergo a background check, fingerprinting, and TB test.
- Must be comfortable being on the move. This is a very high energy position.
- Physically capable of moving tables and chairs and other objects < 50 pounds.
