QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health + Safety Sciences or related field, at least five years of hands-on experience in Construction, Safety Trained Supervisor Certification, Construction Health and Safety Technician Certification, current First Aid, CPR and AED certification, completed OSHA 500 Instructor Course, strong communication skills, decision-making and analytical problem-solving abilities, and proficiency in MS Office.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Identify and mitigate hazards on construction sites, conduct safety inspections and assessments, prepare and manage safety documentation, lead safety meetings, ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, investigate accidents, provide safety training, and foster relationships with subcontractors for safety adherence.

SHORT DESCRIPTION
The Environmental Health + Safety (EHS) Manager at DAVIS will ensure safety and compliance on project sites by identifying hazards, conducting inspections, and collaborating with teams to develop and implement safety protocols.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES + RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform responsibilities with excellence in service, integrity and building relationships as exemplified in DAVIS core values
- Perform routine walk through inspections of construction areas on small to medium sized projects independently, and large to complex projects with some assistance
- Responsible for the creation and distribution of Site EHS Audits to project team and subcontractors
- Responsible for the assembly and delivery of project start up safety packages for new projects
- Assist teams in determining project signage and posting needs
- Provide leadership and direction to project prestart safety review with project team
- Lead high hazard trade safety preconstruction meetings on projects
- Prepare and review JHA for high hazard activities
- Conduct crane notebook review
- Responsible for the completion of Monthly Project EHS Assessment
- Ensure that Monthly Project EHS Assessment is reviewed with project team
- Review and maintain records of man-hours worked each week for all assigned projects
- Provide all information and documentation required on the monthly accident log, and ensure that this is completed appropriately
- Responsible for the distribution of open issues reports to project teams
- Verify and close all open identified hazards on project sites
- Act as primary resource for safety related issues for project teams
- Responsible for OSHA Inspection process
- Conducts personal injury and property damage accident investigations; compile data, photographs, and other necessary documentation for reporting purposes; prepare all pertinent forms and reports per program procedures and federal, state, and local regulations associated with accidents
- Partner with subcontractors to develop overall satisfactory level of safety compliance on jobsites
- Develop and apply practical solutions for project safety issues independently
- Proactively identify and provide solutions for special protective and safety equipment needs for projects independently
- Price and procure special safety equipment for projects
- Provide environmental safety expertise for projects
- Provide industrial hygiene expertise for projects
- Responsible for "Just in Time" onsite education and other initiatives
- Provide instruction for in house EHS courses; develop EHS courses and create content
- Enforce EHS regulations with subcontractor and DAVIS personnel
- Help develop corporate goals relating to company and project level safety performance
- Take leadership role in professional safety organizations
- Lead Advanced EHS Initiatives (i.e. Sub PreQual, Liaison Group, New Hire Onboarding, etc.)
- Classify all DAVIS employee injuries and maintain required OSHA logs and submissions
- Identify and address high risk activities and trends within the company
- Create annual and long term business plan for safety department
- Keep abreast of pending regulatory developments; obtains insight on legislative agendas at state and federal levels
- Lead to develop and update corporate and project EHS policies and procedures
- Help develop and update corporate and project EHS policies and procedures
- Research of new products
- Coordinate with outside vendors as needed
- Create and manage site specific incentive programs for stronger worker safety practices
- Manage client relations in the areas of Loss Control, and Environmental Issues
- Perform other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE + SPECIAL SKILLS
- Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health + Safety Sciences or related field*
- At least five (5) years hands on experience in Construction*
- Safety Trained Supervisor Certification, or equivalent*
- Construction Health and Safety Technician Certification, or equivalent*

- Ability to effectively communicate ideas to employees, subcontractors and clients*
