SHORT DESCRIPTION

The Email Marketing Manager will drive brand awareness and revenue growth through effective email and SMS marketing strategies, focusing on campaign execution, analytics, and collaboration with design and content teams.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Email Marketing Manager is responsible for maintaining, optimizing, and executing the Dr. Phillips Center’s email marketing strategy driving both brand awareness, revenue growth, and operational excellence. This role is focused on building and segmenting emails and automations, a/b testing strategies, maintaining the email contact database and measuring email performance. This position will also be key in the creation, execution, and optimization of SMS communications and strategy for the organization. This position requires innovative thinking, resourcefulness, and strong communication and collaborative skills to deliver on email goals. The Email Marketing Manager will utilize storytelling skills, strong analytical skills, and a data-driven mindset to create and optimize campaigns that increase awareness, engagement, retention, and conversions.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Campaign Strategy and Execution:
  • Lead the planning and execution of the email marketing calendar, working closely with the Senior Manager, Digital Marketing on tactics including segmentation, personalization, and automation.
  • Create engaging email campaigns that drive retention, nurture leads, and boost revenue. This includes building emails, facilitating approvals and sending 40–60 email campaigns per month.
  • Ensure accuracy of email and SMS message and data, working closely with creative and project management.
  • Manage the email service provider relationship (Prospect 2) maximizing the platform, automation opportunities, data analysis, and best practices to reduce email fatigue.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to build a mobile database and run effective SMS marketing campaigns, ensuring best practices and compliance.
  • Maintain and update SMS calendar to ensure timely execution and delivery.
Analytics & Personalization:
  • Manage and optimize drip campaigns and automated email marketing flows, such as welcome series, re-engagement campaigns, abandoned cart emails, and transactional emails.
  • Work with Senior Manager, Digital Marketing to implement consumer journeys for new purchasers, subscribers, single-ticket purchasers and donors.
  • Leverage CRM data to create targeted and personalized email and SMS experiences.
  • Report on findings following the completion of campaigns and other milestones.
Collaboration and Coordination:
  • Work closely with the content and design teams to ensure cohesive messaging across channels.
  • Coordinate email marketing and SMS campaigns with broader digital marketing strategies, including social media, paid ads, and website traffic.
  • Work with external stakeholders on dedicated emails and reciprocal opportunities.
  • Streamline email marketing opportunities for internal stakeholders and expand email databases for other departments
Compliance & Best Practices:
  • Ensure all email and SMS campaigns comply with industry regulations (e.g., CAN-SPAM, GDPR).
  • Implement database hygiene best practices and automations
  • Stay current with email and SMS marketing trends, tools, and best practices.
Other:
  • Follow and support all operational policies and procedures. Assimilate into the arts center culture through understanding, supporting and demonstrating the core values.
  • Maintain a professional and friendly relationship with other departments, colleagues, and partners.
  • Able to remain calm under pressure. Ability to work effectively with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy. Maintain Dr. Phillips Center standards of customer service at all times.
  • Able to effectively communicate in English in both written and oral forms.
  • Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or related field. Minimum of four years’ experience managing email strategy and executing campaigns in a results-driven marketing environment. Prefer candidates with experience and a passion for live entertainment.
  • Strong understanding of email marketing platforms (Prospect2/Active Campaign preferred›).
  • Proven experience with SMS campaigns to drive both sales and time-sensitive notifications.
  • Experience with HTML/CSS for email design and troubleshooting.
  • Proven ability to manage email databases and segment audiences for targeted campaigns.
  • Analytical mindset with experience in tracking email metrics and using insights to inform strategy.
  • Excellent attention to detail and proof-reading skills. Strong project management skills and the ability to juggle multiple campaigns and deadlines. Experience working with internal and external stakeholders regarding content approval processes.
  • Experience with A/B testing and performance analysis
  • Loyalty program management preferred.
  • Familiarity with marketing automation tools and CRM platforms.
  • Knowledge of graphic design principles or experience working with design teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is required.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
This position requires the ability to work a variable schedule, evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet operational needs.
