QUALIFICATIONS
4 years of training or experience in geology, hydrology, engineering, environment science, or a relevant field; or a Bachelor's degree in a related discipline; or 12 months experience as Environmental Specialist 1.

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency wants you to be our newest environmental specialist in the Division of Drinking and Ground Waters (DDAGW), working at our southeast office in Logan.

As an environmental specialist, you’ll perform evaluations of public water systems, including field inspections and consultation with the operators of the systems. You’ll participate in various monitoring activities, review operational reports, and review water analyses to ensure compliance with drinking water regulations. You’ll conduct sampling as needed, and assist in the preparation of written reports, recommendations, and letters.
Additionally, you’ll review the implementation of drinking water regulations and ensure the enforcement of these regulations, participating and providing input on policies and procedures used in the implementation of the public drinking water program. You’ll compile data and maintain records on public water systems, including data on water sources, water quality, ownership, and technical supervision. On the data and info front, you’ll assemble information on public water systems for meetings and enforcement actions.
Communicating with folks outside of the agency, you will provide technical guidance for public officials, operators of public water systems, and the public in matters relating to public drinking water. You’ll assist in preparation of legal actions and the presentation of testimony at hearings and court cases.

- Or baccalaureate degree in engineering, chemistry, physics, biology, environmental science, earth science &/or urban & regional planning, geology or other comparable physical or health science field.
