Job Description
Responsible for coordinating the marketing and communication actions of the Strome College of Business. Supports the Dean and the College in meeting the mission of the College, including planning, developing, and implementing communications and marketing strategies and tactics. Coordinates all communications with stakeholders including alumni, community, students, and University divisions with the primary goal of developing, distinguishing, and enhancing the brand of the College while ensuring its compatibility with other Old Dominion University initiatives.

Considerable knowledge of technology and social media tools used in the marketing industry.
Working knowledge of effective customer service and problem-solving and conflict resolution techniques.
Excellent interpersonal relationship skills, including the ability to collaborate with diverse internal and external partners, clients, and vendors;
Excellent public speaking skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills to include proofreading skills and ability to pay close attention to detail.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced, results driven environment.
Proficient skill in the use of computer software such as Microsoft Office and Adobe Create Suite programs.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative and exercise sound judgments when performing all work responsibilities.
Demonstrated ability to be discrete, employ tact and poise, maintain confidentiality and safeguard sensitive documents and/or information.
Demonstrated ability to collect and interpret information, policies and procedures.

Education or training

Level and type of experience
Considerable experience providing administrative support to an executive (Director, Dean, Vice President or President).
Considerable public relations and marketing experience.
Some experience the creative design of advertising and marketing materials.
Some experience in creating and updating content for the web and various social media outlets.

Additional Considerations (supplemental knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, licensure, certification)
Some knowledge of university and academic policies and procedures.
Some experience working in an academic environment.
Some supervisory experience.
Master’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or equivalent with a combination of education, training or experience.
