Family Building Blocks is accepting applications for a full-time Bilingual Spanish/English Family Outreach Coordinator. The Family Outreach Coordinator works to engage and recruit families in Polk and/or Marion counties by providing support to parents as they are waiting to access our services, parenting education, hosting/participating in community events, and playgroups. Developing and maintaining strong collaborations with community partner organizations will be a crucial function of this position.

DUTIES

Family Outreach and Recruitment

  • Attend and engage families directly at community events and health fairs in various locations.
  • Develop, advertise, and engage families through parent-child playgroups and parenting classes
  • Develop and maintain key partnerships with organizations and churches that can offer space for parent-child playgroups parenting classes at various locations throughout Polk County.
  • Work with FBB Development department to develop marketing materials; secure supplies for playgroups, community meetings, and events.
  • Work closely with EHS Enrollment Specialist to coordinate recruitment.
  • Function as a liaison between early learning community partners using the universal referral process by developing and maintaining developed by early learning partners.
  • Identify and implement creative ways to locate, connect, and engage with families; (3) Service Integration Team meetings, WIC office, Community Action, Early Childhood, and Teen Parent Programs.
  • Track all recruitment activities and events.

Connecting Families

  • Delivers respectful and immediate support to families in crisis using a strengths-based approach.
  • Serves as the initial point of contact and service navigator for families, to learn about their needs and connect them to the program that will best fit their needs and interest.
  • Provide ongoing phone calls and case management to families who are interested but waiting for services; carry small caseload at times.
  • Maintains regular contact with families until they are connected with an agency for ongoing support.

Facilitation of Parenting Education

  • Host and facilitate two or more parent education classes, using the research-based curricula such as Circle of Security, Nurturing Parenting, Abriendo Puertas/Opening Doors, Strengthen Families, or Make a Parenting a Pleasure.
  • Regular communication with parents participating in classes.
  • Recruit and market parenting classes to community partners and parents.
  • Track numbers, attendance, retention rates, complete parenting skill ladders after every class.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associates degree in Social Work or related field.
  • 2 years' experience establishing collaborative relationships with community partner organizations.
  • Education and/or experience demonstrating knowledge of early childhood and/or home visiting program operations.
  • Demonstrated experience providing early childhood education and/or parenting education services and knowledge about early childhood education systems, parenting education programs, and work with at-risk populations.
  • Possess a valid Oregon Driver's license, acceptable driving record, and reliable transportation.
  • Successfully pass Oregon Early Learning Division Background Registry and Oregon State Police Criminal Records.
  • Employer-paid pre-employment drug test is required.
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English.
