Financial Reporting Director

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, CPA required, 7+ years of financial reporting experience, strong knowledge of GAAP, and leadership experience preferred.

SHORT DESCRIPTION
The Director of Financial Reporting is responsible for timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP, leading a team and working closely with senior management and external auditors.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Director of Financial Reporting is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing all external financial reporting initiatives to ensure timely and accurate financial statement reporting in accordance with GAAP regulations. The Director also has the opportunity for extensive internal reporting to senior management and ownership. The Director works proactively with external auditors in the execution of the annual report and audit, quarterly reviews, and technical accounting matters. In addition to on-going technical accounting support, the Director assists with general accounting, reporting, and process issues. The Director will lead a team of 2-3 to meet the responsibilities described above and outlined in further detail below.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following and other duties may be assigned as necessary:
- Research, monitor, and draft technical accounting memos that analyze and interpret impacts of GAAP for significant and/or unusual transactions
- Prepare and review all internal and external periodic financial statements, and relevant footnote disclosures, including, but not limited to Profit & Loss Statements, Balance Sheets, and Statements of Cash Flow
- Provide value-added analysis and commentary regarding financial statements to senior management and ownership
- Ensure that all Company policies comply with regulations, professional standards, and US GAAP reporting guidelines (e.g., ASC 842 Lease Accounting and ACS 606 Revenue Recognition)
- Own preparation of data for all financial compliance reporting requirement with various regulatory authorities
- Work closely with external auditors and senior management in the execution of the annual report and audit, quarterly reviews, and technical accounting matters
- Provide leadership, as an individual contributor and manager, for all financial reporting, compliance, and risk management activities
- Evaluate lease contracts and maintain schedules in our lease accounting system to comply with the GAAP leasing standards
- Assist the General Ledger team with the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure accuracy in the corresponding financial statements
- Research, identify, and lead initiatives focused on improvements to processes, reporting, and systems
- Advise of trends and changes in reporting requirements and recommend best approach for addressing reporting adjustments
- Work with the FP&A and Treasury functions, as well as other members of the Accounting Department, to keep senior management informed of financial conditions, activities, and trends
- Continuously evaluate the talent within the financial reporting team, and create and drive development plans to build out the team’s capabilities where necessary
- Temporary or permanent duties and responsibilities may be added to or modified as deemed necessary
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
- CPA required
- Previous public accounting or large company corporate experience
- Seven (7) or more years of experience in financial reporting and/or operational accounting
- Five (5) or more years of leadership preferred
- Strong and demonstrated knowledge of GAAPand financial statement preparation
- Strong operational knowledge within the Hospitality and/or Gaming industry preferred
- Strong project management experience and process improvement
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner
- Ability to gather, synthesize, and analyze data and draw logical conclusions
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong presentation skills
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to organize effectively, delegate responsibility, solve problems quickly, and communicate clearly
- Ability to provide leadership and direction contributing to the success of the organization through engaging, developing, and mentoring individuals and teams
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position supervises positions on the financial reporting team within the Accounting Department.

Member must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state, and local regulations.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to read and communicate verbally in English. Written communication skills in English may also be required.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

SALARY
$110000 per year - $150000 per year
