Seeking an inspirational General Manager/Chief Operating Officer (COO) to enhance member satisfaction and operational excellence at Lochmoor Club, a family-oriented private club with diverse recreational amenities.

Lochmoor Club Overview

Lochmoor Club is located in Metro-Detroit in the beautiful city of Grosse Pointe Woods, MI and was founded in 1917. Henry Ford’s son, Edsel, was a founding member, as were both the Dodge brothers. Walter J. Travis, a three-time U.S. Amateur Golf Champion, helped design the original course, and it was built by John H. Sweeney.

Lochmoor is a family-oriented club for all seasons with its 18-Hole Championship golf course, Lochmoor Athletic Center (The LAC), newly renovated Clubhouse in 2023, and pool. The LAC houses our Fitness Center (renovated 2023), Indoor Tennis and Pickleball Courts, and new Indoor Golf Center (2021) which incorporates four TrackMan Simulators, as well as indoor short range, putting green, practice green, bunker with real sand, and wedge hitting stations.

We seek an inspirational and operations-oriented leader who can bring new levels of member satisfaction and delight. Success in this role requires a strong focus on service implementation and execution in a diverse recreational amenity setting (i.e. golf, tennis, swim, fitness, family and

social activities) where exceptional member/guest programming, quality food and beverage offerings, and the ability to consistently define and achieve goals and objectives is paramount.

Executive Roles & Responsibilities

GENERAL MANAGER/CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER (COO)

· Reports to Club President and Board of Directors

· Complete oversight responsibilities for clubhouse, food/bar, golf course, swimming, tennis, and other member support operations. Comprehensive facilities management.

· Manages and leads all club personnel, including kitchen, bar, administrative and service staff, golf course operations, tennis, and swim professionals.

· Attends all Board and key committee meetings

· Ensures enforcement of club policies.

· Responsible for all “financial plans” with accountability for achieving positive financial results, meeting budgets, and achieving capital plans. Optimizes revenue streams.

· Responsible for all aspects of membership recruitment and retention in all membership categories, including the creation of effective and forward-thinking marketing and membership recruitment programs

· Acts as a “change agent” by implementing leading-edge services, processes, events, activities, and policies based upon a savvy and proactive view of trends, membership demographics and service desires

· Makes necessary and bold decisions; professionally challenges the Board to implement policies in the best and long-term interests of the Club

· Oversees top-flight food and beverage operations, driving utilization through competitive and attractive pricing, innovative and creative offerings, designs and presentations

· Responsible for the approval of contracts, disbursements, and other financial commitments within the prescribed constraints of the budget

· Oversees and executes capital projects and infrastructure improvements in compliance with approved spending plans

· Ensures the Club is operated in compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws

· Continually monitor & improve service standards and introduces new and innovative programs and services designed to delight members

· Demonstrates an understanding of golf operations, including course maintenance, pro shop management, tournament planning, and member engagement.

· All other duties as assigned

Strategic Planning

· Provides strategic thought leadership as a full business partner to the Board, committees, members, and staff relative to key initiatives, operations, events, and activities at the Club

· Executes Vision 2025 roadmap for the current and future success of the Club

· Must be able to diagnose issues, identify needs, goals and objectives to help insure the continued vitality of the club

Team Management, Leadership & Employee Relations

· Establishes and consistently enhances quantity and quality operating standards for personnel in areas of responsibility, consistently evaluates their knowledge and execution to these standard with accountability. Administers Human Resources functions.

· Recruits, develops, and retains a first-class team of dedicated professionals and staff with full authority to make necessary changes and upgrades as needed.

· Drives positive employee attitudes and maintains the appearance of facilities to the full satisfaction of the club’s membership.

· Embodies positive energy and is viewed as an upbeat, respected, and inspirational leader.

· Inspires his/her team by being hands-on and by pitching in wherever necessary.

· Manages with a “no surprises” approach, keeping the Club’s President, Board members and/or appropriate committees or Committee Chairs informed of all significant matters.

Communications & Ambassadorship

· Easily, consistently and visibly interacts with Members and their guests with the goal of providing a delightful experience. Approachable.

· Collects quantitative, qualitative, and anecdotal feedback from members regarding satisfaction with services, personnel, events and products.

· Continually communicates to members and staff both verbally and in written form with a style that is professional, concise, consistent, and easy to understand.

· Ensures contemporary communication practices to promote LC, including all aspects of digital communications/ social media to connect with Members and potential members.

Educational & Certification Qualifications

· Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year university or college in Hospitality Management is preferred but not required.

· Certified Club Manager (CCM) designation is preferred but not required.

· 5+years’ experience in a service-related industry required including supervisory experience; substantial private club experience desired.
