Job Description
Looking to make an impact on two San Francisco nightlife locations? Apply for the General Manager
position at Swig and Bottle Club. Swig is a lounge concept with Bands and DJs and The Bottle Club is
an Americana themed cocktail bar with rotating back bar that serves small plates.
An ideal candidate will be someone with prior managerial experience in a busy bar, hotel, or
restaurant, but other work history may be considered with appropriate managerial work history.
Working evenings and weekends is required, the standard work week is Tuesday through Saturday,
regular bartending shifts are not required but recommended.
The General Manager is ultimately responsible for all bar operations at the two locations. You should
be able to work independently, effectively communicate managerial objectives, effectively complete
detail-oriented administrative tasks, and manage a team in a fair manner. Success in this position
requires speedy completion of administrative duties and strong attention to detail.
The General Manager will report directly to the Operations Director.
Responsibilities
Oversee all bar operations within the bar at both Swig and Bottle Club Pub
Manage a team of bartenders, barbacks, and kitchen staff in a fair and productive manner
Maintain inventory controls and purchase approved products weekly
Determine employees’ schedules and manage labor costs
Create cocktail menus under the direction of the Beverage Director
Ensure bar is well-stocked, neat, and clean
Work with facilities team to ensure that the bar stays in good operating order
Track customer behavior and sales
Liaise with and respond to the events team for events booked within the bar
Direct operations within the bar for special events as set forth by contracts signed by the events
team
Appropriately delegate tasks to staff
Hire, train, promote, and, when necessary, discipline staff
Liaise with marketing team on campaigns, social media, branding, publicity
Regular bartending shifts are not required but recommended
Qualifications
2 years of Managerial experience in a bar, restaurant or equivalent is preferred
Record of critical thinking skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Experience working in a bar
Attention to detail and good organizational skills
Ability to complete administrative duties accurately and within deadlines
Customer service focus
Knowledge of food, beverage, and hospitality industries
Calm under pressure
Comfortable with hospitality and sales technology platforms
Familiarity with Craftable and Square for Restaurants is nice but not required
Degree in business, management, hospitality, or equivalent is a plus
