SHORT DESCRIPTION
The Industry Banker drives growth through managing client portfolios and collaborating with teams to create customized financial solutions while ensuring compliance and fostering strong client relationships.
The Industry Banker will drive growth on a portfolio of client relationships as well as partner with the Global Industry Head to drive industry focused solutions and other revenue generating activities. The role requires a deep understanding of clients, industry/ecosystem and relevant solutions. The responsibilities of the role are broad based and include managing a portfolio of clients, and partnering with CLM, other coverage, risk and product teams to identify and execute opportunities for client acquisition, cross-sell and scale replication of solutions. The Industry Banker would work with the Industry Head to develop and train coverage bankers, sharpen insights, ensure high quality relationship plans and coordinate marketing / client events. The Industry Banker has a high level of curiosity, empathy, communication skills and resilience. The role requires self-starters who are confident in interacting with clients, Industry Heads as partners and other senior management.
Responsibilities:
- Calls on clients to deepen relationships and proactively owns, responds to, uncovers and anticipates future needs, roadblocks or risks and expectations
- Keeps a pulse on internal and external market themes that are impacting industry growth. Holds the pen to ensure discipline in escalation, and prioritization in development of applicable solutions in partnership with Country Industry teams, product, marketing and risk partners
- Monitor industry ecosystem environment for important competitive developments and raises potential opportunities for partnership and ideas to ensure our business is always competitively positioned
- Creates content and coordinates creation of content to manage Global Industry Head’s external brand as a content and thought leader within the Industry as well as to share with other bankers to facilitate insightful client dialogue
- Drives coordination of the development of Industry Focused Solutions and deal replication initiatives as well as proactively managing the target lists and tracking performance, as well as supporting pitch book creation for unique sector transformational opportunities
- Coordinates the Relationship Plan review process for key sector clients and helping to ensure we maintain the pulse on driving sector transformational opportunities identified during this process
- Works with product specialists and subject matter experts to structure innovative and customized solutions that meet clients’ individual needs
- Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and Citi's policies / guidelines at all time
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications:
- 6-10 years of Commercial Banking experience
- FINRA licensing, Series 79, 63, SIE (current or ability to obtain)
- Sound knowledge of banking and investment products and process as well as a track record of providing sound banking and financial advice and solutions to clients
- Demonstrates sound credit skills by being able to structure more complex deals, which can include capital market transactions
- Demonstrates strong knowledge of applicable industry market trends and stays abreast of such
- Ability to work effectively in team setting
- Ability to coordinate multi-functional teams to provide an exceptional client experience.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills (e.g. negotiation, consultative skills, leadership)
- Ability to work under pressure while making sound decisions
- Highly focused, able to rapidly identify key priorities, clearly communicate the priorities
- An innovative mindset and exhibits a proactive approach in looking for ways in strengthening business relationship with clients
- Passion for creating new business opportunities with existing and new clients and able to demonstrate innovative approaches to meeting clients’ needs.
- Ability to embrace new technology and understand the role digital plays in the experience we deliver for our clients
- Able to quickly adapt priorities based on the latest data insights
Education:
- Bachelor’s/University degree, Masters degree preferred
