QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or related area; 3+ years of university experience in grant project management and account reconciliation preferred. Knowledge of university research administration and federal/state policies is advantageous.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage fiscal operations of grants, assist in the grant application process, monitor grant expenditures, ensure compliance with cost accounting standards, maintain grant ledgers, manage personnel requests related to grants, and provide guidance on grant-funded policies and procedures.

The Grant Manager oversees financial management and compliance for grants within the Cooperative Extension Department, ensuring adherence to federal and university guidelines while supporting grant-funded projects and administrative staff.
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or related business area; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Knowledgeable of University research administration (Pre-and Pose-Award), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), grant fund budget development and Federal, State and University policies and procedures is a plus.

Cooperative Extension at A&T provides researched-based educational information, programming and technical assistance to limited-resource audiences that address a diverse range of issues in four programmatic areas – Agriculture and Natural Resources, Family and Consumer Sciences, Community and Rural Development, and 4-H Youth Development. Together with its partners – North Carolina State University Cooperative Extension Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture, state and county governments, a dynamic and resourceful system is formed. In addition to campus operations, The Cooperative Extension Program has professionally staffed offices in almost half of the 100 counties in North Carolina and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.
- Assists CE PI/PDs in grant application process, including Notice of Intent submission, budget narrative development etc.
- Collaborates with the Grant Administrator in DORED assigned to CE department for new award set-up and attends start-up meeting with PI/PDs as needed.
- Reviews and approves grant funded purchase, travel and personnel requests and ensure all requests aligning with approved budget narrative by the funding agency
- Monitors and tracks grant account expenditures and ensure all expenditures meet the allowable cost requirements and the special term and conditions of each particular award.
- Reviews grant transactions monthly and provides updated summary grant report to PI/PDs on both regular and as needed basis
- Advises PI/PDs on the status of their grant award and assists PD/PIs when a budget revision is needed.
- Responsible for timely and accurate reconciliations, close-outs and adherence to budget and cost accounting standards.
Responsible for managing grant funded employee’s Time and Effort certification report and ensuring proper documentation.
Main all other grant related documentation for auditing purpose.
Advises CE PI/PDs and their Administrative Support staff on policies and procedures that affect grants.
Coordinates with CE Personnel Coordinator to ensure all grant funded personnel requests to be processed timely and accurately.
Works closely with the University Grants Accountant to ensure grant funds are drawn down and grant is closeout in a timely manner.
