The Grants Manager will manage revenue sources and grant processes for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southcentral Alaska, supporting the organization’s mission to enable youth to reach their full potential.

Description:

SUMMARY: The Grants Manager will oversee federal, state, local corporate and other revenue sources for the resource development for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southcentral Alaska. The position will work in tandem with Club Operations, Finance, and other supporting departments to facilitate objectives and applications. The position will coordinate and oversee submission of required reporting to granting agencies and ensure proper revenue recognition. The ideal candidate for this position will support the organization’s long-term fiscal sustainability at the strategic, operational, and tactical level. This position supervises a team of grant writers and coordinators who manage individual grants.

The position reports to the Chief Executive Officer and will serve as a member of the Resource Development Team. The work engages every department of the organization, including Clubhouse, Athletics, Child Development, and Administration.

  • Ensure proper administrative, staff and board, infrastructure/internal operations are in place to support BGC Alaska’s growth and development.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Take a long-term sustainability approach to identifying and securing grants from a variety of sources- federal, state, local, corporate, and individual sources.
  • Oversee grant life cycles in the MyClubHub management system
  • Develop budget worksheets and narratives per grant award guidelines and advise the Resource Development team regarding grant financials during application processes as needed
  • Assign duties and review work of the grant personnel on the Resource Development team
  • Work closely with the other lateral departments to determine, source, and account for grant eligible expenses
  • Ensure compliance with grant expense reporting, internal and external reporting requirements and fund expenditure
  • Work with the Payroll Lead to confirm labor hours
  • Compile and submit required grant reimbursements, billings, and other financial reporting
  • Work with Accounts Receivable to ensure proper recording and documenting of grant remittance
  • Assist the Finance team during periodic audits with regard to grant specific documentation requirements
  • Maintain proactive and professional customer service within the organization and with customers, vendors, and community partners
  • Create and maintain policies and procedures in assigned areas of responsibility
  • Maintain technology, tools, and equipment, including utilizing relevant training
  • Ensure department and document security through appropriate confidentiality and access control practices
  • Work as part of a team to implement initiatives and annual departmental strategic plans
  • Provide input on strategic planning as requested
Requirements:

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in communications, computer science, English, social sciences, or a similar field
  • Experience with basic accounting practices preferred
  • A minimum of five years of professional grants management
  • A minimum of five years of supervisory experience
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Suite, web-based communication platforms, and Excel skills including creating formulas and data analysis
  • Experience with Salesforce a plus
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally
  • Ability to support cross-functional engagement and problem-solving
  • Ability to manage multiple active projects and deadlines
  • Ability to achieve and maintain first aid and CPR certification
  • Must pass a name-based and fingerprint criminal records background check

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Primarily a normal internal work environment. Performing the duties of this job may include activities hosted outdoors in various weather conditions. Noise levels for activities in the Club environment may be loud.
  • The position will include regular local travel to Clubs in the Anchorage/Mat-Su region and occasional travel to other communities the Clubs serve statewide.
  • Work during evenings and weekends will occasionally be required, given the nature of the position and its connection with community partners.
