QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in graphic design or related field, experience as a graphic designer or in advertising/marketing, strong portfolio demonstrating graphic design skills, proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator), Google applications, and knowledge of prepress production processes.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Design magazine layouts, collaborate with the Associate Publisher on innovative design concepts, oversee projects to completion, manage ad materials with the Client Relations Coordinator, prioritize workload, pay attention to detail, organize photography and illustrations, assist the art team, prepare print files, coordinate with teams, review final layouts, and maintain branding standards.

Seeking a full-time Graphic Designer to create magazine layouts and contribute to print and digital marketing materials while fostering a collaborative and creative work environment.
Family Resource Group, Inc., which produces Baton Rouge Parents Magazine, Pink & Blue, Kid Scoop News, Nola Family Magazine, Colorado Parent Magazine, Cincinnati Family Magazine, Birmingham Parent Magazine and numerous ancillary publications is seeking a full-time Graphic Designer with the ability to think conceptually as well as aesthetically.

The designer's main functions will be to design magazine layouts and to collaborate with the Associate Publisher to assist in the creative execution of innovative design concepts in print, Web, and marketing materials.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Oversee your own projects through to completion
- Work with the Client Relations Coordinator to ensure all ad materials are collected, created, and processed
- Demonstrate a passion for design and creative thinking
- Prioritize workload and meet deadlines
- Pay extreme attention to detail and consistency
- Research, organize, and assign photography and illustrations
- Assist art team with format and design of department pages, features, and covers
- Prepare files and images for press day: preflight, image retouch, clipping, layering, etc.
- Coordinating with outside agencies, clients, creative art team, digital team, marketing, photographers, printers, and colleagues as necessary
- Prepare final print files for web
- Reviewing final layouts and suggesting improvements when necessary
- Ensure team deadlines and specifications are met
- Follow and maintain branding standards
- Assist with special projects
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or related field
- Experience as a graphic designer or in a related field, including but not limited to advertising, marketing, and multimedia design
- Demonstrable graphic design skills with a strong portfolio
- Must be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator
- Must be proficient in Google applications
- Must understand basic prepress production of print files
- Effective time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines
- Print layout experience required
