SHORT DESCRIPTION

Contribute to the design and production of marketing materials for Smyth Automotive’s B2B and B2C customers, while ensuring alignment with branding standards and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Description:

Smyth Automotive is a privately-held automotive aftermarket company, owned and operated by the Smyth family since it was founded by George Smyth over 60 years ago. Smyth Automotive has grown and now owns and operates 18 auto part retail locations, 8 paint centers and 5 warehouse distribution centers serving Greater Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus, Northern and Central KY and Tennessee.

In this role, you’ll contribute to the design, layout, and production of marketing materials across various channels, including print, and digital for Smyth’s b2b and b2c customer base. You will also be responsible for creating artwork for events. The ideal candidate is a team player with a strong creative vision who thrives in a fast-paced environment and consistently meets deadlines while upholding our branding standards.

Requirements:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design & Layout: Create monthly publications and other materials using Adobe Creative Suite applications.
  • Evaluate & Innovate: Analyze and enhance the layout, color schemes, and graphics of current marketing materials to drive sales and foot traffic.
  • Print Production: Oversee the production of print materials, ensuring quality, consistency, and timely delivery. Experience with print production processes is preferred.
  • Event Artwork: Design artwork for corporate events, including promotional materials, signage, and displays.
  • Multi-Project Management: Balance multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks based on deadlines and importance.
  • Asset Management: Organize and maintain manufacturer-provided artwork for use in digital and print advertising.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with the Director of Marketing and buyers to ensure alignment between company branding, manufacturer requirements, and marketing goals.
  • Campaign Development: Assist in developing cohesive campaigns spanning print, email, and social media, integrated with broader advertising efforts like radio, TV, and in-store merchandising.
  • Administrative Support: Provide administrative and event-preparation assistance as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree in Graphic Design with a minimum of 2 years of professional experience.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to accept and incorporate feedback, adapt to shifting priorities, and perform under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Basic web design formats knowledge (e.g., social media, layout and design for web pages, email templates, and banner ads).
  • Print production experience preferred, including knowledge of print processes and materials.
  • A creative mindset with the ability to turn ideas into polished final products.
  • Experience in retail or the automotive aftermarket industry is a plus; merchandising skills are a bonus.
  • Resilient and open to feedback, with a proactive “can-do” attitude.
  • Familiarity with B2B and/or retail marketing strategies.
