Bachelor's degree in design or related field, experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), strong communication skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Preferred qualifications include knowledge of digital photography, video editing, and experience in social media design.

SHORT DESCRIPTION
The Graphic Designer at Fresno Pacific University collaborates with the marketing team to create effective and accessible designs that align with the university’s brand, supporting various marketing efforts.
Position Summary
The Graphic Designer works under the direction of the Director of Creative Services, UMC, and collaboratively with the marketing team members and clients. Conceptualizes, designs, and produces materials for a variety of digital, print, and electronic mediums in support of university marketing efforts. Creates clean, effective, and accessible designs consistent with the university image and brand while meeting revolving production deadlines.

Duties
- Conceptualize, design, and produce digital, print, and electronic marketing materials for university clients through clear and effective communication and collaboration with team members, clients, coworkers, and vendors.
- Color correct and/or enhance photography for materials.
- Prepare design files for printing; package and supply final files to creative vendors and partners.
- Prepare digital assets that meet technical requirements for online marketing and branding projects.
- Maintain a well-organized digital file system of projects and assets.
- Meet deadlines for print and digital marketing materials.
- Complete tasks timely with work that is comprehensive, complete, and accurate
- Communicates clearly, listens attentively, and seeks to understand others
- Collaborates productively with colleagues of varying skillset
- Other job duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in design or related field or equivalent experience in graphic design
- Customer service orientation
- Willingness to learn new technology and design techniques.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and respond to changes in a timely manner.
- Well-developed communication skills and an ability to clearly and effectively communicate with marketing experts such as supervisors, other designers, print houses and vendors, as well as non-designers including peers, students, clients, and coworkers in a positive, professional manner.
- Ability to establish and maintain interpersonal relationships.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (CC), with an emphasis in InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Experience publishing digitally accessible documents using Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment, meet production deadlines and prioritize multiple jobs and tasks.
- Knowledge of current design, typography, photography, printing techniques, and digital formats
- Understanding of printing processes and requirements, print graphic design principles, color theory and principles, and print workflow processes.
- Experience in photo color correction and manipulation
- Basic skills in creating original vector graphics, such as icons and infographics.
- Qualified candidates will be prepared to demonstrate excellent design ability through the presentation of design work, either via personal or professional website or by providing a digital portfolio in the form of a PDF
Preferred:
- Basic knowledge and/or training in digital photography
- Basic knowledge of video editing
- Experience in art directing photo shoots, indoors and outdoors.
- Experience designing for social media
- Experience using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience using digital design platforms such as Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch
- Experience with content publishing using web platforms including WordPress or Drupal
- Experience working with basic HTML and CSS
- Experience in marketing Christian higher education
Environmental Conditions:
- Indoors in a normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, fumes, vibrations, and temperature changes at least eighty percent (80%) of the time.
- Frequent computer use at a workstation, up to eight hours per day.
- Frequently work at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.
- Drive personal or University vehicles to appointments.
- Public contact position requiring professional apparel, personal hygiene, and grooming.
- This position typically functions indoors in an office environment with light to moderate noise associated with business office equipment. The position may involve travel for meetings and events.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: remain in a stationary position 80 % of the time, be able to move about inside the office to access file cabinets/office machinery etc., operate a computer and keyboard and other office productivity machinery such as calculators/copy machines/printers. The employee is occasionally required to position self to reach items on the floor and in high cabinetry.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Employee must be able to communicate with others to exchange information including both over the telephone and in-person communication with callers and community members and be able to read a computer screen and paper documents.
