Job Description
SUMMARY
The Graphic Designer ensures quality production of finished graphic design/layout projects and collaborates closely with a team of creatives across print, digital design, page layout, and production of various communication assets, including but not limited to publications, brochures, advertisements, convention marketing, logos, illustrations, and web assets. The Graphic Designer produces and maintains (or updates) supporting print and digital communications materials for all departments of NCBA and its partners, contributing to NCBA’s mission and values in promoting the beef industry. They will also assist the NCBA web team on web-related design tasks; experience with HTML/CSS, UX/UI principles, or CMS platforms is beneficial. As a secondary focus of the role, they maintain strong relationships with print vendors to acquire and process print bids and invoices as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all the following essential functions. These examples do not include all the functions the employee may be expected to perform.
- Provide professional design services, including concepting, working comps and new creative to solve graphic design/communication needs of NCBA departments and state partners.
- Provide layout of newsletters, fact sheets, publications and advertisements.
- Create in-house advertisements for publications.
- Provide professional production services, including typesetting, proof corrections, art preparation, scanning, electronic illustration, photo re-touching and masking (print and digital).
- Develop web and digital assets, with occasional motion graphics or video assets as needed. Experience with basic web development skills, i.e., HTML, CSS, UX/UI, is a plus.
- Assist in organizing, archiving and maintaining creative templates and assets.
- Work efficiently to meet deadlines, balancing multiple priorities effectively.
- Possess strong typographic skills and a foundational understanding of digital media best practices.
- Work with internal and external partners to secure clear direction and timelines for design projects.
- Resize and update existing advertisements using templated designs.
- Collaborate with fellow Creative Services team members, as well as Web Services, Brand Marketing, and Social Media staff, to improve collective body of work.
- Ensure all materials created comply with NCBA brand standards and Beef Checkoff attribution requirements.
- Occasionally assist with non-design related projects, such as helping with the execution of meetings and conferences.
- Other job duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- EDUCATION – A graphic design degree from either a Bachelor of Arts program or a Graphic Design Trade School is required.
- EXPERIENCE – 3+ years of experience or equivalent professional experience as a Graphic Designer. The ideal candidate should have strong experience with Adobe Creative Cloud on a Windows platform and be proficient in creating print and web-ready files.
- SKILLS – Adaptability, resourcefulness and a customer-focused attitude are essential. Must be detail-oriented and able to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment while managing diverse schedules and priorities. Candidates should be comfortable balancing various project types, including digital and print design, collaborating with multiple departments and building skills in areas like UX/UI or web design.
