QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Healthcare Administration, or related field (preferred), 3+ years of experience in healthcare marketing or community outreach, strong knowledge of geriatric psychiatry, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, knowledge of HIPAA regulations, ability to travel locally as needed.

The Growth and Outreach Specialist will enhance the visibility and outreach of the Geriatric Psychiatry Unit, promoting specialized mental health care for older adults through strategic marketing and community engagement efforts.

The Growth and Outreach Specialist for the Geriatric Psychiatry Unit will be responsible for driving awareness, outreach, and growth of the unit's services. This role focuses on promoting the facility's specialized care for older adults with mental health needs, building relationships with referral sources, and increasing patient volume through strategic marketing efforts. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of geriatric care, excellent communication skills, and the ability to engage with healthcare professionals, families, and the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Outreach & Relationship Building:
- Establish and maintain relationships with referring physicians, social workers, healthcare providers, community organizations, and senior care facilities.
- Organize and conduct educational presentations and meetings to raise awareness about the unit's services.
- Collaborate with case managers, discharge planners, and healthcare networks to facilitate patient referrals.
- Work collaboratively with Hospital Marketing Director
- Marketing & Communications:
- Develop and implement marketing strategies to increase awareness of the geri-psych unit’s offerings, with a focus on digital and traditional channels.
- Create informational materials, including brochures, flyers, and content for the website and social media platforms.
- Coordinate with the hospital’s marketing team to develop targeted campaigns aimed at families, caregivers, and healthcare professionals.
- Community Engagement:
- Attend community events, senior health fairs, and conferences to network with key stakeholders and promote the unit’s services.
- Foster partnerships with local senior living communities and long-term care facilities to promote continuity of care for geriatric patients.
- Develops route and cadence with key referral sources such as referral coordinators, case managers, social workers, first responders/law enforcement and mental health professionals/practitioners along with other hospitals (that may need to transfer for BHU services)
- Data & Reporting:
- Track outreach efforts, including referral trends, marketing campaign success, and community engagement metrics.
- Provide regular reports to senior management on growth opportunities, challenges, and outreach results.
- Monitor competitor activities and trends in geriatric care to inform outreach strategy and ensure competitive positioning.
- Provide daily communication regarding admission criteria, bed availability and status of pending patients with regional facilities
- Communicates any barriers to intake or referral process to leadership
- Patient & Family Support:
- Act as a liaison between patients, families, and the unit’s clinical staff to ensure smooth communication and coordination of care.
- Offer resources and education to families about the psychiatric services available, including admission processes, insurance, and patient care plans.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Healthcare Administration, or related field (preferred).
- 3+ years of experience in healthcare marketing, community outreach, pharmaceutical sales, or business development, preferably in geriatric care or behavioral health.
- Strong knowledge of geriatric psychiatry and the unique needs of older adults.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with healthcare professionals, families, and community members.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and the importance of patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Ability to travel locally for outreach and community events as needed.
Preferred Skills:
- Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
- Previous experience working in a geri-psych or rehabilitation setting.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and digital marketing tools.
- Bilingual skills (Spanish, Mandarin, etc.) are a plus.
