Hardwood Promotion Leader Summary:
Our office in Hamburg, NY (Buffalo area) is hiring a Hardwood Promotion Leader. This position’s goal would be to increase the demand for American hardwoods through persuading designers, architects and other parties who influence the choice of materials used in interior home products. The person filling this role would work with Baillie Leadership, industry colleagues, and industry associations to try to develop a promotion program for American hardwoods generically. Likely focal points for developing a promotion strategy would include promoting the beauty, timeless character, structural benefits and environmental benefits of American hardwoods.
Hardwood Promotion Leader Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Leadership, Sales, Marketing, Operations, and other teams across the Baillie Group to lead, coordinate, and manage campaigns to promote the use of hardwood lumber.
- Develop and implement a robust communications plan that tells both the Baillie and hardwood industry story through a variety of platforms and mediums and in multiple languages.
- Building awareness: Lead activities such as media relations, press releases, and influencer collaborations to help increase the visibility and awareness of the value of hardwood, capturing the attention of designers, architects, manufacturers as well as potential consumers and influencing the purchasing and use of hardwood.
- Establishing credibility: Through strategic initiatives, establish credibility and trust among designers and architects, positioning themselves as an industry leader and expert in the use of hardwoods as a sustainable building material.
- Shaping the perception of hardwoods versus substitutes: Shape the way designers and architects, and consumers perceive products manufactured from hardwoods by highlighting positive attributes and addressing any misconceptions or negative perceptions that may exist.
- Creating emotional connections: Being effective in developing campaigns that evoke emotions and create meaningful connections between the use of hardwoods and the target audience, influencing purchasing decisions based on facts, personal values, aspirations, and desires.
- Leveraging relationships: Collaborating with influencers and thought leaders in relevant industries to tap into their followers’ trust and loyalty, influencing consumer behavior and encouraging the specification and use for products made from hardwoods.
- Highlighting unique selling points: Showcase hardwoods unique selling points and competitive advantages over substitute products, emphasizing why designers and architects and consumers should choose hardwood.
- Managing feedback: Manage feedback, addressing concerns from designers and architects promptly and effectively, and demonstrating transparency, which will positively impact trust and the use of hardwoods.
- Participating in online communities: Incorporate managing and participating in the important social media platforms, and digital communities to engage with designers and architects, share
- valuable content, and build relationships, influencing behavior in favor of hardwoods through interactive and targeted campaigns.
- Measuring impact: Find ways to effectively use various metrics and analytics to measure the impact of their efforts.
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Forest Products, Architectural Design, or related field AND 6+ years Communications, Marketing Operations, Field Operations, Program Management, Project Management, or related experience.
- Co-Marketing experience – to work with other companies, associations, and agencies.
- Influencer Marketing – Can identify a Social Media Influencer with the proper following who can convey messages to the proper target audience.
- Other general marketing experience: Product marketing, Promotion, Branding, Advertising, etc.
- Be the company advocate with other industry associations who are working on promoting hardwoods to consumers, contractors & professionals.
- Have partnered with designers and creative agencies to develop visual assets for executive communications and/or social media.
- Proven track record for new, innovative approaches and smart risk taking.
- Computer skills in the suite of Microsoft Office 365 and Adobe Creative Cloud
- Experience in web design, website management and search engine optimization.

- Minimum – Anticipated Maximum Salary: $100,000-175,000*
- The advertised pay range represents what Baillie Lumber Co. believes we would anticipate paying for this position. It is not typical for an individual to be compensated at the top of the range for a position as candidates must possess experience and qualifications that far exceed the requirements.
