George Fox University's Athletic Department is seeking a highly-motivated and organized leader with a vibrant Christian faith to join our team as the Head Football Coach, dedicated to advancing Christ-centered higher education by integrating faith and learning.
About the Job:
The Head Football Coach will lead, develop, and mentor the collegiate football team, striving for competitive excellence in intercollegiate athletics. This role also involves fostering a comprehensive program that promotes athletic success, personal and spiritual growth, and academic achievement for all team members while adhering to rules and regulations governing University, Northwest Conference and NCAA Division III. The Head Football Coach performs all duties in full support of the University's and Athletic Department's mission.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Developing Christ-like Character:
- Discipling student-athletes in the program to facilitate spiritual growth.
- Teaching and modeling the value of Christian competition to the football staff and student-athletes.
- Counseling team members in disciplinary, academic, or personal matters while consulting with George Fox athletic administration on the issues requiring resolutions of problems.

Creating annual service and mission opportunities for student-athletes to invest in the community.

Recruiting:
- Identifying, researching, evaluating, and recruiting prospective student-athletes who can thrive in the George Fox University environment while excelling as scholars and athletes.
- Filling a roster that can pursue an elite level of excellence at the conference and national levels.

Retaining student-athletes within the program.

Athletic Excellence:
- Scheduling and conducting practice/training sessions and coaching student-athletes.

Striving to ensure we are the most successful program in the Northwest Conference (NWC) in all facets, with an expectation of becoming nationally competitive.

Operations:
- Scheduling competitions and arranging travel, hotel, and meals.
- Handling all program administrative functions, including but not limited to NCAA eligibility, communicating with sports marketing, public relations, and departmental meetings and paperwork.
- Hiring and supervising assistant coaches.
- Budget preparation and management, as well as fundraising.

Hosting and operating at least one Bruin Sports Camp for football each summer.
- Working collaboratively with other members of the athletic department and university administration.
- Conducting the football program within the stated philosophy and established guidelines by George Fox University and NCAA Division III.
- Attending clinics and seminars appropriate to professional growth in individual sports coaching areas.
- Articulating the mission of the George Fox University athletic program in ways that align with the "Be Known" vision of the University.
- Modeling a highly relational Christian witness to the university's students and employees. By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
- Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.

- Demonstrated experience working cross culturally with respect, appreciation and humility.

A day in the life of this position:
The Head Football Coach position is a highly diverse role which varies day-to-day, in-season, and out-of-season. This individual must model a life of learning, integrity and service around the person and work of Jesus Christ. Student-athletes are our primary focus and therefore this position requires an immense amount of availability to help coach, educate and mentor. The Head Football Coach must excel in organizational and analytical skills to assist with program administrative functions and recruiting. This is a highly visible position within the community.
We're looking for candidates who have:
- A Bachelor's degree with a minimum four years coaching experience at the collegiate level or demonstrated successful head coaching experience on the high school level.
- Recruiting experience.
- A clean driving record along with the ability to provide proof of a valid driver's license and pass the University Driver Certification.
- The ability to work weekends, evenings and to travel.
- The ability to manage multiple tasks and actively participate in practices.
- Knowledge of NCAA Rules.
- Knowledge of computer applications, organizational abilities, event planning and camps, fund raising, financial management and recruiting ability and demonstrated commitment or experience working with diverse populations.
- The ability to communicate effectively in English, orally and in writing, including on telephone, and to understand and follow instructions.

Job information:

Hours Per Week: 40 hours (1.0 FTE)
- This position requires irregular office hours including after-hours and weekend work to attend competitions, practices, etc.

Primary Work Location: Newberg Campus
- Local and national travel is required.
- Working Conditions: Physical requirements could include lifting more than 25 pounds and performing any activities such as balancing, bending/stooping, climbing stairs, crawling, crouching, climbing ladders, kneeling, repetitive motion or reaching above shoulder level.
