Jim Coleman Automotive is a 3rd generation family-owned dealership. The Coleman family has been selling and servicing cars in the Washington-Metropolitan, Bethesda, and Baltimore areas since the 1950s. We are a local leader in automotive retail, looking to add qualified professionals to our team. As the General Manager of our dealership, you must be committed to inspiring the team, cultivating an environment that empowers growth, providing exceptional customer service to our clients, leading and growing the business with integrity! The role requires a leader with experience that understands the end-to-end process of store operations from automotive systems, variable operations, digital retailing, F&I, fixed operations, has parts knowledge and understands P/L.
Preview of Responsibilities:
- Forecast, plan, execute and achieve overall store sales goals and service objectives monthly and annually
- Ensure execution of all inventory and operational standards
- Prepare and administer an annual operating budget for the dealership
- Work with the service director and parts manager to ensure a timely turnaround of all customer work, internal jobs, parts needs, forecasting monthly goals and achieving gross profit goals for both departments
- Handle and resolve customer complaints in all dealership departments
- Motivate, train, develop and reward employees
- Coach sales consultants and sales managers on best practices for closing sales deals, providing top CSI and overall sales performance
- Assist with closing deals
- Provide and maintain a safe workplace and environment for employees and customers
- Participate in the development and execution of compensation plans
- Oversee and be actively involved in all activities occurring in the showroom
- Manage the CRM and set the standard of utilization
- Plan and lead sales meetings, and attend companywide meetings as required
- Partner with the marketing team to strategize on monthly advertising plans to achieve sales goals
- Be involved and utilize the digital retailing tools
- Manage and work with third party vendors and OEM regional management teams
- Partner with recruiting team to strategize and find exceptional talent
- Communicate all business goals and needs to the appropriate team members
- Be customer focused, team oriented and passionate about leading teams
- Other duties assigned by management
Your Skills & Qualifications:
- Track record of managing teams, motivating, and developing into leadership-Must have 3+ years as a current General Manager
- Ability to motivate all departments in the dealership
- Ability to recruit, select, train, hire and develop quality team members
- Ability to forecast monthly sales goals and manage P/L
- Ability to lead change management
- Experience with Reynolds, eLeads, vAuto, etc. Preferred, but not required
- Strong technical aptitude is preferred
- Proven track record of growing variable operations net profit and unit sales volume
- Complete understanding of how to desk subprime car deals and prime
- Must be able to read and understand manufacture statements, F&I statements, and financial statements
- Must be able to manage in a fast-paced work environment
- Must be a team player and great communicator
- Must have a valid driver's license
