Position Overview

As the HR Manager based at our Scottsdale, AZ office, you will be responsible for overseeing the human resources operations for our South Africa-based HR Assistants. Your role will focus on managing HR functions such as recruitment, employee relations, performance management, training, compliance, and benefits administration, with a key responsibility of ensuring alignment and consistent practices across our global team. You'll collaborate closely with our South African HR team to support both local and international initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruitment and Staffing- Oversee the remote process for roles in South Africa, working closely with the HR Assistants there. - You'll help create job descriptions, screen candidates, and support interview processes. - You’ll ensure we attract and retain top talent in both regions, coordinating efforts to meet staffing needs across the organization.
  • Employee Relations- Serve as the main point of contact for employee inquiries and issues in South Africa, helping the local HR team address and resolve employee relations concerns. - You will manage complex employee relations cases, ensuring that issues are handled fairly and consistently while maintaining compliance with both local and international regulations.
  • Performance Management- Develop and implement performance management systems that are aligned with Wise Pelican's corporate objectives. - Support the South African team in coaching and guiding managers through performance reviews, performance improvement plans, and the development of objectives for their teams.
  • Training and Development- Work with the HR Assistants in South Africa to identify training needs, create training programs, and ensure that they meet the needs of employees. You'll ensure that these programs contribute to both personal growth and organizational success, enabling teams to work efficiently and effectively.
  • Compliance- Ensure that Wise Pelican remains compliant with local labor laws in both the U.S. and South Africa. This includes overseeing the HR Assistants’ compliance efforts related to employee records, hiring processes, and any labor-related documentation. You’ll be responsible for staying current on evolving employment laws and ensuring our practices are aligned with global regulations.
  • HR Policy Development and ImplementationRevise and implement HR policies to ensure they meet both local and international compliance standards. Work closely with the team in South Africa to ensure consistent application of these policies and procedures across all locations, while making sure they align with Wise Pelican’s company values and legal requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in HR management, with demonstrated leadership skills and experience overseeing remote or international HR teams.
  • Skills:
  • Expertise in HR functions such as recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and compliance.
  • Experience managing or overseeing HR teams, preferably across multiple countries or regions.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Familiarity with HR software and tools, with the ability to quickly adapt to new systems and processes.
  • Cultural awareness and sensitivity to international work environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Multinational Experience: Experience working in multinational company environments, ideally in both U.S. and South African markets.
  • Project Management: Familiarity with project management techniques and coordination of cross-functional HR projects.
