About Us:
Our law office in downtown Silver Spring, Maryland, is on a mission to provide exceptional legal services. We're seeking an ambitious and dependable legal assistant to join our Immigration department. While this position may start as temporary or part-time, there's potential for it to become full-time in the near future.
What You'll Do:
As a Legal Assistant, your initial focus will be on immigration matters. However, your role will adapt to our office's needs. We value versatility and may cross-train you to support other areas of our practice. Additionally, due to the nature of our work, you'll receive training in various Office Assistant duties. You'll be expected to handle these tasks when necessary.
Key Duties:
- Utilize office and immigration software to handle assigned cases
- Communicate (both verbally and in writing) with clients to complete tasks
- Work on family-based and employment-based immigration cases from intake to filing
- Handle Consular Processing and Adjustment of Status matters
- Assist with Asylum preparation and completion
- Keep up to date with current information through AILA
- Manage immigration forms such as N-400, I-765, and more
- Provide support for other office functions as needed
- Contribute to our office's marketing plans and strategies

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
- Two-year college degree or equivalent, and/or a paralegal studies certification
- Three years of relevant experience
- Proficiency in typing and Microsoft Office
- Ability to use case management software (e.g., Docket-wise or similar)
- Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Adaptability to quickly learn a new office system (training provided)
