SHORT DESCRIPTION

The Communications Specialist will design and execute employee communications and engagement initiatives, enhance student communication, and foster alignment with UAGC's goals.

The Communications Specialist at the University of Arizona Global Campus (UAGC) will report to the Communications Manager and assist with designing and executing internal/employee communications, engagement initiatives, and events. This role also focuses on managing the dissemination of student communications and fostering alignment with UAGC's goals. The Communications Specialist will create and distribute key organizational communications across various formats, including emails, newsletters, and the intranet, driving change management and enhancing employee and student engagement. Additionally, the Specialist will contribute to communication strategies that help meet UAGC's objectives and priorities.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Draft internal and student communications to inform faculty, staff, and students about UAGC initiatives and events using email, newsletters, and the intranet.

  • Develop written materials including talking points, announcements, and newsletter articles.

  • Manage and disseminate student communications while aligning with stakeholder strategies.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to support enterprise communication needs.

  • Deliver comprehensive strategies aligned with project and organizational goals, fostering a culture of care and engagement.

  • Provide strategic communication support to drive positive organizational change.

  • Proofread and edit content while ensuring quality control per UAGC's brand standards and editorial guidelines.

  • Manage UAGC's intranet to promote self-service and employee engagement.

  • Assist with the Content and Brand team as needed.

  • Support the Communications Manager as required.

  • Strong writing and editing skills.

  • Ability to craft compelling and clear messaging to various audiences.

  • Work creatively and follow detailed instructions when required.

  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple complicated projects at one time.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Familiarity with basic HTML coding.

  • Experience with multi-media storytelling

  • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with senior management

  • Results-oriented and strategic planning expertise

  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion

  • Superior organizational skills and ability to juggle multiple priorities

  • Committed to excellence in communications with a strong detail orientation

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with basic HTML

  • Capable of delivering best-in-class communications to the organization

  • Writing and editing experience

  • Can multitask effectively with competing priorities, balancing business needs with stakeholder requests

  • Versatile in multi-media communications delivery and driving organizational dialogue

  • Takes ownership of the strategy and delivers on the goals on time

  • Experience with Sharepoint, MS Teams, Zoom, JIRA

  • Experience managing internal communications in the higher education sector

Rate of Pay: $65,687 - $85,393

Compensation Type: Salary at 1.0 full-time equivalence (FTE)
