Job Summary
Clayton State University seeks someone to serve in the role of International Education Manager. This position is responsible for leading the development and implementation of strategic enrollment and student success initiatives for international students. The International Education Manager manages day-to-day operations of incoming and outgoing exchange and support services and conducts F-1 student and immigration advisement.
Responsibilities
International Student Support - 60%
- Serve as a Primary Designated School Official (PDSO) and primary campus contact for exchange partner institutions and 3rd party providers.
- Assist with processing SEVIS related applications and requests from students, reviewing, updating, and maintaining student records, and issuing immigration documents.
- Develop and implement international student orientation including presenting on maintaining F-1 status, exchange advising, enrolling students in classes, etc., in collaboration with other campus partners.
- Plan and implement comprehensive support services for international students
- Offer first-level advisement on programs for exchange students on F-1 visa regulations and benefits while maintaining SEVIS compliance and services available to all students; refer them to specialized advising and support resources.
- Serve and provide guidance to international students on various standard issues impacting them, such as personal, financial needs, academic issues, health insurance and health care, travel, employment, CPT, OPT, etc.
- Coordinate exchange programs and workshops that promote the success and retention of the exchange student population including collecting, analyzing assessment data, and preparing reports.
- Develop appropriate program outcomes to track effectiveness of outcomes.
- Serve as the University liaison for International Communications and Marketing initiatives (external and internal) as well as create and/or update marketing/communication material including but not limited to: website, social media, brochures and program information annually.
- Assess current processes and make recommendations to update and streamline International Student Services (ISS) processes.
- Serve as university¿s liaison for USG System Council on International Education (SCIE).
International Education Programming - 25%
- Plan and implement comprehensive outreach and community building programming for incoming and continuing international students.
- Develop engaging and creative programming including student check-ins, workshops and seminars.
- Collaborate with various units to ensure accurate information is available to students.
- Conduct outreach to campus departments to inform and educate on international student policies/procedures.
- Coordinates the annual International Education Week programming and any major international events or speakers.
Collaborate with University Partners - 10%
- Collaborate with Enrollment Management to develop student recruitment plan and assist with exchange processes including but not limited to: application reviews, course enrollment and verification, documentation monitoring, etc.
- Collaborate with other study abroad staff members to support study abroad programs, develop student academic recruitment plan, liaise with study abroad alumni, and maintain partnerships with exchange partner institutions and third-party providers.
- Collaborate with Office of New Student Programs to provide targeted orientation activities to international students.
- Collaborate with Center for Academic Success to provide targeted programming and outreach for international students.
- Collaborate with Center for Advising & Retention to develop targeted advisement timelines for international students and monitor international student progress each term to ensure compliance.
- Serve on University committees.
Other duties as assigned - 5%
Required Qualifications
This individual must be organized, detailed, and able to multi-task and work in a constantly changing environment. This role requires prioritizing and managing several projects simultaneously and successfully, including but not limited to: the student application, advising, arrival, and returning processes, adhering to best practices and assist faculty with study abroad processing. Must have excellent communication skills and ability to work with individuals from various backgrounds.
Ideal candidates will have increasingly responsible experience in providing international student services and prior experience in the field of international education. A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may also be considered.
Bachelor's degree with minimum 3 years of Higher Education experience or Master's degree required

- Knowledge of student information systems (for example, BANNER) is preferred.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Consistently exhibit engaging customer service.
- Knowledge of the use of best practices to support persistence and retention efforts across various student populations.
- Intermediate-level use of Microsoft EXCEL to manipulate and report data.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Excellent organization and time management skills.
- Must be flexible and be able to prioritize and function independently with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work cooperatively and diplomatically with superiors, peers, students, external constituents, and individuals from various cultures.
