SHORT DESCRIPTION

The Junior Content Specialist will assist in creating engaging content across various mediums, manage community inquiries, and collaborate with the marketing team to enhance online presence and communication.

Job Title: Junior Content Specialist

Reports to: Content Marketing Lead

Location / Hours: San Juan, Puerto Rico / Full-Time

Type of Contract: Regular Position (Probationary Period)

Purpose

The Junior Content Specialist will be responsible for assisting in the creation of compelling and engaging written and multimedia content for a variety of mediums, including websites, advertisements, social media, email, press, and more. The person will also manage online communities’ inquiries, maximizing their writing and creative skills to engage with our audiences.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
  • Create and/or assist in the development of social media and web efforts for multiple brands and audiences.
  • Write clear and compelling copies for a variety of mediums, including websites, advertisements, social media, press, video scripts, and more.
  • Conceptualize multimedia content such as videos, webpages, infographics, animations, among others, working closely with social media managers and strategists.
  • Manage the social media inbox and community by monitoring, responding to, and organizing incoming messages, comments, and inquiries across all social media platforms.
  • Foster positive relationships with our online community by engaging with followers, addressing their questions or concerns, and providing relevant and helpful information.
  • Conduct research and stay up to date on science related trends and current events to inform writing and multimedia content creation.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and execute content strategies and live social media coverage in events
  • Write in a variety of styles and tones to engage different target audiences, some specialized in science, technology, research, among others.
  • Edit and proofread content in Spanish and English language, for accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
  • Manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.

Qualifications & Technical Job Requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Spanish and English.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to proofread for accuracy.
  • Ability to write in a variety of styles and tones to conceptualize campaigns for different target audiences related to science.
  • Basic understanding of social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok) and CRM tools like Mailchimp and/or Hubspot. Experience or understanding of graphic design is not required, but experience or familiarity with tools like Canva and Adobe is a plus.
  • Collaborative team player with experience in hybrid or virtual working settings.
  • Experience in social media management in science communication or related field is a plus.

Experience & Educational Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in journalism, marketing, or related field experience.
  • 1+years of experience as a multimedia content creator.
