The Learning & Development Specialist provides learning and development process and program management for employee development initiatives, as well as facilitation of business skills related learning programs both in-person and virtually across our global organization.


What Will You Do?

In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for:

  • Project manages new and existing learning programs and projects (e.g., high-potential leadership programs, TTC Talks, online learning resources, new hire orientation, etc.) to include project planning, marketing and communications development, administration, liaison with vendors, and employee support
  • Assists senior manager, learning, development and engagement in instructional design, course authoring, marketing, and materials development for learning topics for office and production workforce
  • Delivers and facilitates training content to employees using a variety of training techniques, strong classroom management skills, and a collaborative approach
  • Manages vendor relationships for learning consultants, to include services negotiation, contracting, status updates, reporting, and understanding future offerings
  • Assists the senior manager, learning, development and engagement in annual budgeting and strategic planning process for Learning function
  • Communicates cross-functionally with HR business partners, legal, IT, and business leaders across the company; provides some guidance and support to other functions on targeted learning initiatives
  • Partners with Learning Management System (LMS) administrators to identify functionality needs in LMS
  • Up to 20% travel
  • Performs other duties and projects as requested

What Do You Need?

To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field (HR, Human Resource Development, Instructional Design)
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant experience
  • General knowledge of key principles and practices of learning and development including adult learning principles, instructional design, and facilitation techniques

Required/Preferred Skills:

  • Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office applications and ability to learn new systems quickly
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to interact verbally and in writing with others within and outside of human resources; and a professional change management demeanor
  • Collaborative team player with ability to communicate and work effectively across levels and departments, where flexibility, adaptability, and resiliency are important
  • Proven ability and desire to work independently and within a team of learning professionals dedicated to successful implementation of projects
  • Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality
  • Curiosity and a continuous improvement mindset
  • Prior instructional design and facilitation experience desired
  • Prior experience with learning technologies desired, including virtual delivery platforms, web-authoring tools, instructional design software, and learning management systems preferred

Competitive Salary – The pay range takes into account skills, experience, education, and location. It is not common to be hired at or near the top of the range; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the annual pay range is between $70,000 - $85,000. Cash compensation is one piece of our competitive total rewards package.
