SHORT DESCRIPTION

The Manager Chain Accounts is responsible for planning and developing strategic initiatives for key chain retailers, enhancing business performance through collaborative relationships and data-driven decision-making.

About the Role:

The Manager Chain Accounts leads the planning and development of the HUSA portfolio at key chain retail accounts for the {insert region} Business Unit. This role is responsible for managing high volume chain retailers, leveraging syndicated data to influence customer decisions, and building effective business plans tailored to each chain account and aligned with HUSA’s strategic vision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build strong collaborative customer relationships to develop a solid understanding of goals and strategies, and develop individualized business plans that deliver on distributor, retailer, and HUSA business objectives
  • Build programs that protect against large competitive investments into the region and chain accounts to insulate core HUSA distribution and velocity while driving incremental PODs and volume.
  • Collaborate with category management and marketing teams to leverage insights and create selling stories of value that will resonate with customers to drive sales velocity.
  • Support distributor partners with chain management and collaborate throughout multiple levels within distributors, as well as the retailer’s hierarchy, to ensure successful implementation of initiatives.
  • Develop scorecards, tracking, and selling tools that will aid in the planning and delivery of successful in-market execution through HUSA sales teams, distributors, and retailers.
  • Utilize sales/customer data and forecasting to proactively manage inventory and reallocate across regions if necessary; ensure product availability at distributors and key retailers aligns with new programs and sustainment of other products/packages.
  • Conduct post-promotion analyses on all initiatives, and communicate to distributors, retailers, and internal HUSA teams, to communicate program results and opportunities.
  • Conduct joint business planning and business reviews with retailers and distributors to sell and align on key priorities to drive overall business.
  • Attend key distributor meetings as needed. • Work with HUSA finance and revenue management teams on program financials, such as pricing initiatives and breakeven analysis
  • Effectively communicate with regional and brand marketing, sales, and distributors to ensure alignment on chain programs.
  • Build budgets and balance checkbooks and POs.

Basic Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 3+ years of CPG category management experience, or similar sales experience working with a regional or national CPG customer (Pepsi bottlers, Food Service Brokers, distributor, etc.)
  • Proven success driving influence in a matrix environment with distributors
  • Direct customer management experience in CPG
  • Previous knowledge of 3-tier distribution system
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience with syndicated data sources (Nielsen, IRI, Spectra, Household Panel), Retail Link, and consumer/shopper insights required
  • JDA software experience in validation
  • Analytical and technical skills required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exposure to retail account management and beverage distribution models preferred
  • Previous success building business results through customer management
  • Ability to create a vision for brands aligned with customers’ strategies
  • Experience building and executing business plans
  • Budget and resource management
  • Ability to use category management and other syndicated data to influence
  • Distributor management experience at a supplier helpful

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 32 lbs
  • Frequent stooping, reaching, bending, twisting required
  • Must be able to walk, stand, sit in vehicle for extended periods
  • Must be flexible to work evenings and occasional weekends
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must obtain a valid solicitor’s permit (upon hire)
