The Manager of Marketing will conceptualize and execute strategies to enhance awareness and engagement for the Weinberg Center and New Spire Arts, ensuring brand continuity and driving ticket sales.
Job Summary
The Manager of Marketing is an essential staff member of the Weinberg Center for the Arts, a showcase for the performing arts in central Maryland. The Weinberg Center offers a wide range of musical, dramatic, artistic, and educational programs for the local and regional communities, enhancing cultural life while keeping the arts accessible and affordable to a broad audience. The Manager of Marketing is responsible for conceptualizing, planning and executing successful marketing strategies across various platforms to increase awareness of the Weinberg Center and New Spire Arts, contributing to the growth and long-term stability of both venues. This position oversees the implementation of an annual marketing, promotion, and advertising plan to drive ticket sales and audience engagement. This is a full-time, professional position reporting to the Theater Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversees the development and execution of comprehensive marketing, public relations, and season advertising plans for both venues.
- Negotiates and manages media sponsorships and ad buys with print, digital, radio, and video outlets, ensuring alignment with marketing goals.
- Conducts market research to identify target audiences and tracks campaign performance.
- Represents the Weinberg Center and New Spire Arts at high-profile functions, media appearances, and community events to promote programming.
- Ensures brand continuity across all print and digital platforms, including creating content for press releases, social media, and public-facing signage.
- Oversees the design and production of marketing materials such as season brochures, playbills, and lobby signage.
- Coordinates the bidding process for graphic design and printing contracts, ensuring compliance with City purchasing policies.
- Develops and executes engaging email campaigns, monthly newsletters, and social media strategies to promote events and engage patrons.
- Manages the website and ensures all programming is accurately reflected, while maintaining listings across regional event calendars.
- Edits photos and videos for use across marketing platforms.
- Recruits, trains, and supervises Marketing and Development interns, fostering an educational environment while ensuring assigned tasks are complete and support marketing initiatives.
- Assists with front-of-house operations and house manages select events
- Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree with concentration in Communication, Public Relations, Business Management, Arts Administration, or similar, or four (4) years of experience working in a marketing position.
- Five (5) years progressive work-related experience, preferably within arts-related/non-profit sector.
- Experience in producing marketing collateral.
- Proven public speaking, marketing, public relations experience.
REQUIRED SKILLS (Communication/Language; Mathematical; Computer; etc.):
- Proven ability to coordinate and meet requirements of multiple, competing priorities/projects
- Proven ability to work independently and as a team member in a demanding and fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal, written, electronic and interpersonal communication skills.
- Familiarity with content marketing and social media strategies.
- Expertise in data analysis, market research, and CRM systems.
- Photo editing, video editing, and design skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain relationships, and to interact with the general public.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Word Press, and Social Medial platforms
OTHER DESIRABLES:
- Experience working in the non-profit and/or arts-related sector.
- Public speaking experience.
- Supervisory experience.
- Ability to learn and utilize new technology that will expand the marketing reach of the Weinberg Center.
- Previous project management experience.

While performing the duties of this role, the incumbent is frequently required to remain in a stationary position. This individual will occasionally be required to move items weighing up to 20 pounds. The incumbent must occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets and computer equipment. Incumbent must be able to stand for extended periods of time and to climb up and down stairs while house managing. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken word and for conveying details or important instructions to others accurately, quickly and at appropriate sound level. Hearing is required to perceive information in a normal and high noise level environment. Incumbent is periodically required to work evening and/or weekend hours, depending upon performance schedule.

The incumbent in this position is occasionally required to travel locally and out-of-state. The incumbent occasionally performs work in an open work environment (no walls or doors).. The incumbent frequently works closely with the general public (large crowds in small spaces). This employee regularly works in historic buildings with stairs and no elevator.
