Manager Of Special Events And Donor Acquisition
LOCATION
Washington, DC, and surrounding northern Virginia and Maryland suburbs. Requires frequent travel and extensive weekend work.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum three years of experience in special event planning and management, excellent communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and high organizational skills. High school diploma required; a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead and manage Goodwill events, handle event logistics and budgets, maintain community relationships for donations, communicate with key leaders, track and report donation metrics, and conduct site visits.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
2. Manages event logistics, management of supplies and resources, procurement of event signage, communications, coordination, and collaboration.
3. Serves as the primary marketing point of contact for internal and external events, while keeping key Goodwill leaders well-informed including the Director of Communications & Community Engagement, The Senior Director of Brand Marketing, and the Chief Marketing Officer.
4. Helps manage event budgets and secures pricing estimates that will drive budget development.
5. Builds, maintains, and manages a donation program through community relationship building, including, but not limited to, residential property management agencies (HOAs, Condo Associations), non-profit organizations, special event organizers, and corporate partners, in partnership with our development team and Director of Communications and Community Engagement.
6. Works closely with the transportation team to plan, coordinate, and lead donation-driven events and activities.
7. Responsible for helping to identify mobile donation sites in accordance with GGW’s donation strategy.
8. Partners with the Development, and Donated Goods & Retail teams to create a holistic approach to building strong community relationships through external donation acquisition strategies, special events, and promotional opportunities, including event design, coordination of collateral design and distribution, and promotion.
9. Communicates regularly with the Director of Communications and Community Engagement and Chief Marketing Officer on planned activities and metric-driven results.
10. Maintains donation drive metrics on donation volume and provides reports on donation yield following each donation drive to Director of Communications & Community Engagement, Director of Transportation, VP of Donated Goods & Retail, and Chief Marketing Officer.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
2. Tracks critical data relevant to donations' quantity, quality, and value and assists with data analysis.
3. Assist with creating standard operating procedures relevant to community events and follow up on implementing those procedures.
4. Willingness to work in all weather conditions.
5. Other duties as assigned.
This position requires using a personal vehicle for frequent travel within Washington, DC, much of northern Virginia, and the Maryland suburbs. This position also requires a non-traditional five-day work schedule that includes extensive weekend work.

1. Minimum three years of experience in special event planning and management.

3. Demonstrated experience and ability to influence and negotiate internally and externally to achieve a set of goals.
4. Shows an understanding of key steps and strategies in promoting a case and persuading one or more groups to “buy in” to a particular course of action.
5. Demonstrated experience partnering with and/or building relationships within the community.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or related field or equivalent years of experience.
2. Comfort driving a cargo van.
