COURIER seeks a Managing Director to lead COURIER’s national division into its next phase, articulating a clear vision for the COURIER brand and national product suite.


Managing a team of producers and editorial staff, this executive-level role will be responsible for providing direction and concepting new products, partnerships, and content streams across web, newsletters, video, podcasts, and social.


Role & responsibilities include:


  • Manage high-level national content, talent, and business partnerships
  • Lead big-picture content strategy for COURIER’s national newsletter, web, social video, and podcast products
  • Direct the planning and execution of a division-wide strategic plan
  • Supervise COURIER’s national content production team, including editorial, comms, marketing, and creative
  • Track industry competitives and identify opportunities for cross publishing, distribution and other collaboration with like-minded individuals and organizations
  • Recruit talent and work with team to develop new original programming across key platforms
  • Collaborate with revenue team to deploy national product monetization strategies
  • Set growth + marketing goals / KPIs for the COURIER national content production team and its suite of products
  • Oversee COURIER national division budget and planning process
  • Participate in COURIER leadership team meetings and processes

The ideal candidate will have some of the following:


  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in media or politics with at least 5 years in a high-level leadership position overseeing a marketing, content, or editorial team
  • A passion for people management, and an ability to navigate relationships with external talent and contractors is required
  • Strong knowledge of social media platforms and the changing media industry
  • An ability to identify talent and bring creative concepts to market from ideation to execution
  • Some experience with platform monetization, revenue generation, or grassroots fundraising (preferred)
