The Job
Reporting to the Marketing and Communications Manager, the Marketing and Communications Associate will be a key player in advancing The SCAN Foundation’s mission. The ideal candidate will bring expertise across digital marketing channels, strong teamwork skills, and a passion for making a difference. This individual will contribute to shaping and executing the Foundation’s marketing and communications strategy across digital platforms, ensuring that TSF’s message reaches diverse audiences effectively and with impact. This role requires a dynamic and adaptable individual who can think quickly, manage changing priorities, and work independently.
Essential Functions
Social media management: a. Plan and execute social media campaigns, including developing a content calendar and creating content b. Manage TSF’s social media accounts and engage with online communities using industry best practices c. Design and create visually compelling graphics for social media, marketing materials, and other digital and print assets, ensuring alignment with TSF’s branding and messaging guidelines. d. Monitor media coverage, social media, and related activity surrounding key advocacy issues to identify opportunities to contribute to discourse, shape narrative, connect to new audiences, and elevate TSF’s brand.
Campaign support: a. Collaborate with program teams, Marketing and Communications team, and consultants to execute marketing campaigns that support TSF’s programmatic objectives and elevate the brand.
Editorial/content management support: a. Support the maintenance of the editorial calendar, providing proactive support to internal stakeholders by integrating deadlines and project updates into the team’s project management system b. Support the creation of and/or proofread diverse content, including social media posts, email campaigns, newsletters, op-eds, blogs, video scripts, reports, talking points, and presentation decks c. Maintain and enforce TSF’s editorial and style guide across all content.
Website management: a. Function as the primary administrator of the content management system to maintain website content, updating and uploading content for the TSF website (post blog posts, create event pages, etc.) b. Ensure the website is up to date with refreshed visuals, organized content, and optimized for impact, security, accessibility, and compliance (e.g., ADA standards) c. Regularly review the site for performance improvements, technical issues, and broken links to ensure an optimal user experience d. Conduct SEO audits and implement best practices to improve search engine rankings and drive traffic.
Email marketing: a. Coordinate and execute email campaigns, meeting deadlines, following timelines, and ensuring uniformity of content/messaging b. Support the creation of and optimize email content to align with TSF’s branding and messaging goals c. Organize and maintain TSF’s subscriber lists according to industry best practices and regularly update lists to ensure accuracy and compliance d. Segment lists effectively to target specific audiences and increase engagement and coordinate with cross-functional teams to integrate email marketing with broader campaigns.
Analytics and strategy: a. Monitor, analyze, and report on website, email, and social media metrics b. Use data insights to test new ideas and inform content, design, and strategy enhancements.
Administrative support: a. Manage digital assets and ensure proper organization b. Perform accurate and timely data entry c. Conduct research to support various projects d. Occasionally assist with in-person and virtual events.
Your Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
- 3-5 years of related Marketing and Communications experience
- 2-3 years of experience with social media management, website management, and email marketing
- Highly organized self-starter with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Skilled in cultivating and sustaining collaborative working relationships with team members, external partners, and stakeholders
- Keen awareness of multiple group identities and ability to consistently bring a high level of self-awareness and empathy to all interactions
- Ability to inhabit a brand voice and distill complex topics for general audiences
