SHORT DESCRIPTION

Seeking a creative Marketing & Communications Coordinator to promote Scouting's positive impact on youth in the Greater St. Louis Area through strategic marketing efforts and content creation.

Marketing and Communications Coordinator

Position location: St. Louis, Missouri

Position Overview:

The Greater St. Louis Area Council Scouting is seeking a creative and resourceful Marketing & Communications Coordinator to join our team. You'll play a vital role in promoting Scouting and its positive impact on young people across the region.

Job Responsibilities:

Marketing/Branding/Graphic Design

  • Increase awareness of the Scouting brand through strategic media placement in print, radio, television and electronic platforms.
  • Assist in the marketing efforts of the Councils annual events including, but not limited to, membership campaign, Summer Camp, Eagle Dinner, Scouting for Food and Memorial Flag Day.

Content Creation

  • Capture and edit compelling content that tells our scouting story.
  • Visually document council-wide events by managing photography schedules and capturing and editing high-quality photos and videos.

Public Relations

  • Maintain effective relationships with media representatives.
  • Coordinate with the marketing firm on press functions and media interviews.
  • Track and compile media reports as they relate to the Council and Scouting.
  • Prepare news releases and other media materials as appropriate for local media.

Communications

  • Manage and align all branding and marketing communications.
  • Oversee and edit the councils newsletter.
  • Collaborating with multiple departments to optimize and schedule messages for constituents.
  • Manage communications calendar, list segmentation, and reports.
  • Develop and produce the Council's annual report and Year in Review, leveraging the support of the Council's marketing firm.

Website

  • Coordinate web development. This includes, but is not limited to design, functionality, writing content, routine monitoring, maintenance, updating, and troubleshooting.

Social Media

  • Manage all Council social media accounts.
  • Grow presence across social media channels.
  • Build and maintain a strong online presence by responding promptly and professionally to comments, messages, and inquiries.

Marketing Firm

  • Coordinate on all projects assigned to our marketing firm.

Special Responsibilities

  • Attend Executive Board meetings and assist the Deputy Scout Executive in the preparation for, and follow-up of, these meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Deputy Scout Executive.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field.
  • Proficient in photo/video editing, graphic design and print layout.
  • Experience working with Constant Contact or other mass email systems.
  • Experience with social media platforms including Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, interpersonal and relationship building skills, team-oriented, strong editorial and proof-reading skills, and high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to self-motivate, multi-task and juggle multiple projects with competing priorities across multiple teams. Openness to continued learning and enhancement of skills.

Salary: $44,000 - $55,000/ year
