Position Overview:
The Independent Living Center, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals with disabilities, is seeking a highly motivated and creative Coordinator of Marketing and Public Relations. This position plays a key role in promoting our mission, programs, and services while fostering positive relationships with consumers, families, staff, and the broader community. The ideal candidate will be a skilled communicator with experience in marketing, public relations, and community engagement. You will establish positive interpersonal and community relationships, seek outreach opportunities; facilitate, implement, and evaluate activities, events, and initiatives for defined target audiences, and participate in team, departmental, and organizational initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Marketing and Branding
- Develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies to enhance the center’s visibility and reputation.
- Create and manage promotional materials, including brochures, newsletters, social media content, and website updates.
- Ensure all marketing materials align with the organization’s branding guidelines and mission.
- Coordinate advertising campaigns, both digital and traditional, to attract consumers and donors.
Public Relations
- Build and maintain relationships with local media outlets to secure press coverage.
- Draft and distribute press releases, media advisories, and other PR materials.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for media inquiries and on-site interviews.
- Organize press events and manage crisis communication as needed.
Community Engagement
- Plan and execute community outreach initiatives to strengthen partnerships and foster goodwill.
- Represent the organization at community events, trade shows, and networking opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal teams to host events for consumers, families, and donors.
Digital Presence
- Manage the organization’s social media accounts and engage with followers to build an online community.
- Track and analyze website and social media metrics to inform strategy.
- Develop and execute email marketing campaigns targeting various stakeholders.
Collaboration and Reporting
- Work closely with the Executive Director and development team to align marketing efforts with fundraising goals.
- Prepare regular reports on marketing activities and outcomes.
- Provide support for grant applications by supplying marketing data and materials.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
- 2-4 years of professional experience in marketing, public relations, or a similar role.
- Experience in the non-profit or senior living sector is a plus.
Skills and Competencies
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in digital marketing tools, including social media platforms, email marketing software, and analytics tools.
- Graphic design experience with tools like Adobe Creative Suite or Canva is preferred.
- Strong project management skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
