SHORT DESCRIPTION
Waka Coffee & Tea is seeking a Marketing and Sales Associate to support growth initiatives, manage e-commerce and marketing efforts, and engage with customers in a dynamic startup environment.
Are you starting your career in marketing and looking for a startup where you can grow? Do you have an entrepreneurial mindset and a go-getter attitude? Do you love coffee and tea? If so, this position is for you.
Waka Coffee & Tea is growing rapidly and looking to expand its team. The Marketing and Sales Associate will report to and work alongside the Founder & CEO. This is an ideal position for someone who is looking to join a company early and become a crucial part of its future success. Waka Coffee & Tea is a venture-backed company on a mission to revive the instant coffee and tea categories. Our products are sold on our website (wakacoffee.com), in Walmart, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and on Amazon. We’ve also been featured in Business Insider, Forbes, Los Angeles Times, New York Times, Bloomberg, and many more.
We are looking for someone who is in for the ride and can work independently in a startup environment. You need to be a self-starter with proven ability to take initiative, work on new projects, be organized, and multitask under pressure. This position will require you to be passionately flexible, with some local travel and occasional weekend work to attend events or work on a tight schedule — this is not a typical 9-5 position. You will also need to be “the face” of the company on social media, live streams, and videos, so you should be comfortable in front of the camera.
Responsibilities:
- Manage our e-commerce channels (Shopify, Amazon, Walmart, Faire, TikTok Shop, Flip), including product merchandising, marketing, fulfillment, analysis, and technology improvements to support our goals and objectives.
- Manage our email marketing campaigns and flows on a weekly basis, including conceptualizing email ideas, basic design, and working with other parties as needed.
- Coordinate and project manage Waka’s freelancers, consultants, and agencies to hit the team's objectives.
- Manage sales and promotions calendar, from ideation to execution, including keeping all departments accountable to company objectives.
- Create, define, and track online marketing performance to hit sales goals.
- Oversee social media activities to grow following and increase engagement, including content ideation and creation, influencer marketing, giveaways, going “live” on TikTok and Amazon to drive sales and engagement.
- Work with our sales team to find and nurture new sales channels and activities, such as wholesale accounts, including business development (online & offline) and account management. This includes creating and maintaining up-to-date sales sheets and marketing assets.
- Attend sales events/activities to represent the company and engage new customers. Including trade shows, store visits and demos and more.
- Coordinate with the fulfillment teams on inventory levels based on marketing activities.
- Other marketing, sales, and operational duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in a business-related field with a 3.5+ GPA or an equivalent professional experience (required).
- Other marketing certificates from accredited organizations (highly preferred).
- Some experience with Shopify and Amazon Seller (required).
- Some design experience, including working with Canva.
- Experience working with an email marketing software such as Klaviyo (required).
- Active on social media with a creative mindset.
- Up-to-date with recent marketing and social media trends.
- Can easily build processes and manage projects.
- Can learn new skills and take on new responsibilities quickly.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent analytical, tactical problem-solving, and quantitative skills, including proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets and some modeling skills.
- The ability to thrive in a start-up environment by managing multiple projects simultaneously with quick turnarounds, pivot quickly, work through ambiguity, and manage your time effectively and independently.
