QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in marketing, advertising, communications, or a related field, with five or more years of marketing experience, preferably in transportation or transit.

General Summary
Fuels the growth of key marketing and segments for SMART and SMART services area(s) in SE Michigan with focus on rider acquisition and ROI. Elevates market presence and position of SMART brand. Has thorough knowledge of integrated brand marketing, digital marketing, advertising, event management, and marketing plan development and execution. Simultaneously oversee multiple projects independently. Works directly with leadership and a variety of multidisciplinary work groups with or without direct leadership oversight.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for the initiatives of the department of marketing at the discretion of management and senior leadership in conjunction with established strategic plans.
- Steps into meetings, projects and activities on behalf of marketing leadership as a senior marketing team member.
In collaboration with the Vice President/Assistant Vice President, develop, implement, and measure strategic service line marketing plans and corresponding campaigns. Develop and share routine performance reports with key stakeholders.
Identifies market challenges and opportunities and integrates into plans for assigned counties, departments, programs and services.
Manages and provides marketing activities for counties, departments, programs and services. Oversees the production of department marketing materials, including print, and digital.
Work cross-functionally with team members and vendors on content development, campaign builds, coordination of the production of marketing materials, and updates to website.
Maintains an understanding of the organization’s market share and its immediate competitors.
Develops, implements and tracks ongoing marketing performance metrics to ensure organization success.
Understands and applies consumer segmentation and targeting to develop resonating messaging and identification of key consumer channels.
Works closely with the call-center and consumer engagement on local and regional initiatives.
Fosters relationships and effective communication in support of assigned areas, providing timely responses within defined timelines.
Participates in budget planning and management process. Identifies needed resources/vendors for marketing support and ensures adherence to established budgets.
- Leads the planning/execution of major consumer events and/or sponsorships.
- Guides graphic design staff and internal clients to develop creative and concise marketing and communication pieces while maintaining brand, image and copy standards.
- Creates a variety of communication materials, including tool kits, brochures, presentations, handouts, invitations, flyers, etc.
- Coordinates and leads multiple marketing committees.
- Flexibility to attend early morning or evening meetings when necessary and assist with events that occur over a weekend as needed.
- Promotes diversity in all marketing materials.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Experience, Education, and Certification
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, advertising, communications, or related field.
- Five or more years of marketing experience, exhibiting increasing levels of responsibility.
- Transportation or Transit experience, preferred.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent strategy development, project management, problem-solving skills, analytical skills, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of digital marketing platforms (CRM, email), and digital marketing strategies (Google AdWords, SEO/SEM).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong computer skills including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to model senior level marketing skills/behaviors and mentor team when needed.
- Self-directed, proactive and solution-oriented in approach to work
- Ability to manage multiple high-level projects simultaneously and independently under deadlines.
- Excellent planning, organization and prioritization skills in the areas of needs assessment, project management, budgeting and tactical execution.
- Working knowledge of customer channels and related promotional techniques.
- Strong knowledge of the health care service line environment, past experience in a service line focused marketing environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of market and customer research strategies and tools.
- Strong skills in marketing collateral development. Orientation to continuous quality improvement.
